| While Maimai is (apparently) just japanese for snail, it is still the correct name. We even have precedence for this kind of naming with the enemy Kōmori from Mario vs. Donkey Kong, as Kōmori is (apparently) japanese for bat, yet the wiki still calls it Kōmori. 15:23, January 2, 2024 (EST)

| :The difference here is that these apparently have an internal name ("snail"), and because reasons internal names that happen to be in English are given priority over Japanese names. Kōmori doesn't have that. Blinker (talk) 16:50, January 2, 2024 (EST) | |

| I'm just curious where the name "Swirlypod" came from. Personally I love the name and it fits better for the Mario enemy tone, more-so than "snail". --Sgt. Sarge (talk) 11:22, January 7, 2024 (EST)
