passed
To me, it seems odd that this page would still retain an old name that has been different sine 2009. To remedy this, I'm going to throw in two different options for how to go forward: rename the whole page to Super Mushroom (healing item), or split out the Mario & Luigi series information into Super Mushroom (healing item). I'm not entirely sure which option is more viable, but I'm throwing them both out because really, I think something ought to be done. (And the same goes for this scenario.)

#YoshiFlutterJump Just like I said with Ultra Shroom, this is the best option. The name is the same in all localizations except English and it was probably only shortened because of space constraints. They are both functionally similar in that they are both the second tier of healing items (no, Dried Shroom doesn't count). The only real caveat to going with this option is the identifier, but it allows for consistency with Ultra Shroom (if that gets moved), "Super Shroom" hasn't been used since 2007, and merging it with the main Super Mushroom article wouldn't be the best idea because it has little in common with the main series one and the naming is more a coincidence than anything. In short, splitting would be redundantly redundant and this is the best option.
#Niiue Per all.

#FanOfYoshi Per YoshiFlutterJump.
#JoeRunner Per all.
#Power Flotzo Per all, especially YFJ.
#bwburke94 Per YFJ and others.
#MarioManiac1981 YFJ's reasoning is the strongest. All commending goes to him.

Why not have an option to merge into the main Super Mushroom article? After all, the Fire Flower item from the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series isn't split from the main Fire Flower article, and the basic Mushroom also doesn't have its own article for RPG appearances. :Mushroom and Super Mushroom pages are quite similar. However. I do think that this should not be merged with Super Mushrooms due to the fact that the Paper Mario versions are Blue. But, I agree that the options should be there in case someone would want this. I would say two options in this case. Them being: "Merge all into Super Mushroom" and "Merge just Mario & Luigi series into Super Mushroom". The reason for no "Merge Mario & Luigi series and rename to Super Mushroom (healing item)" is for two reasons. First because that identifier won't make sense due to the Mario & Luigi series items being healing items. Second because they aren't named as such, but are only called Super Shrooms. 10:51, September 9, 2019 (EDT)

::@LinkTheLefty: Is there an actual distinction, though? The Japanese names might be the same, but I think it's worth noting that Super Mario RPG called them "Mid Mushrooms", implying that they were meant to be different from the identically-named power-up from the start. 13:24, September 9, 2019 (EDT)
:::@Yoshi the SSM: I think the additional options would be fair, though I believe the mushroom graphics are shared in the Mario & Luigi games.
:::@YoshiFlutterJump: If it were the only a one-off, I can see it maybe being coincidental; however, since it's in all these RPGs, I'm inclined to believe its color differentiation is a result of having both normal Mushrooms and Super Mushrooms as items in the same game, which rarely if ever happens (also of note - recurring power-ups can have different effects, especially in a different genre, and Super Mushrooms have been called Mushrooms in some games).
:::@Toadette the Achiever: Whether it was due to Square at the time or not, Ted Woolsey didn't seem to do much Mario franchise research before translating Super Mario RPG, which is why a lot of previous Mario elements and references were relocalized in the English version (e.g. Sky Troopa, Goby, Shy Away, Yo'ster Isle, etc.). So in this case, his Mid Mushroom localization doesn't necessarily mean anything and was most likely another way to shorten Super Mushroom within the allotted space, preferring to write out "Mushroom" than use "Shroom" (admittedly, Max Mushroom does have more in common with one later Mario & Luigi version, but that's a separate discussion). ::::What I meant was, maybe there are some internal filenames on both the power-up and the healing item that you can use to support your points? 17:54, September 9, 2019 (EDT)
:::::I'm not really sure how that's applicable since both the platformer and RPG versions debuted before the modern filesystem. LinkTheLefty (talk) 22:00, September 11, 2019 (EDT)
