Theres a new area in the game: Look at the cheep cheep scene in the trailer. Thats a new water area. Also, the Sand Kingdom is called Tostareena. Dont forget how when you collect a moon, it just jumps to the next mission, theres no mission select, although moons can be collected out of order. Dont forget about that dark village seen in the trailer, too. Also, ya know how they said stickers can be bought? ==Super Mario Odyssey Sequel Idea==
When I know how popular Super Mario Odyssey is, I was thinking about the idea of a sequel, that involves Peach, Toad and Luigi in the game with their own Bonneter allies. I even submit it on deviantart (https://sowells.deviantart.com/art/Super-Mario-Odyssey-2-722741000)

Do you think we should have that page? There is a lot of things discovered in the game's files that we can put in. Thanks! By the way, I am new but I read this wiki all the time. I'll be on a lot helping whenever you need it! From, XxMarioFanxx
Super Mario Odyssey 2  is a 3D platform-adventure open world video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U and a sequel to the previous game, Super Mario Odyssey. The game's plot centers  around Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad having to rescue King Topper and Queen Bonneta from Lord Darkus and his evil minions. To rescue them,Cappy and Tiara recruited two Bonneters,Trilby and Belfry for Luigi and Toad.
:I'm sure one will be created eventually, once we have enough information to justify the page's creation. 14:37, 7 May 2018 (EDT)
Thanks for the speedy response! From, XxMarioFanxx

Hint art section in Gallery???
Super Mario Odyssey returns to the explorative sandbox-like gameplay seen in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, where the quartet explores various areas in order to collect Power Moons to power the Odyssey airship to fly from kingdom to kingdom. There is no central hub world, as the Odyssey is rather used to move from one location to the others. The quartet maintains their moveset from previous 3D titles, including the Triple Jump, Long Jump, Side Somersault, Backwards Somersault, Roll, Ground Pound, Ground Pound Jump, Spin Jump, and the returning Dive. In addition, three new characters: Tiara, Belfry and Trilby allies with the quartet along with Cappy, and takes possession of their hats. Like Mario, they can throw their allies as if they were boomerangs for a long range attack, he can use them as an extra platform to bypass obstacles, use them  in conjunction with his dive move to cross large distances, and can also "capture" certain objects and enemies to take control of them, replacing the traditional power-up system seen in the previous Super Mario games since Super Mario Galaxy.

Should we have all the new hint arts in the gallery? I wanted to ask before I do it. :) From, XxMarioFanxx
It features a Quick Switch, which allows players to switch to other playable characters, such as switching from Mario to Toad and vice versa.
:The Hint Art is actually already covered separately, here. The new Hint Art posted on Twitter and on the official Japanese site is there, as well.--Mister Wu (talk) 06:53, 10 May 2018 (EDT)

Unused Content Page
Is anyone here working on one for this game? Because there are quite a few interesting differences documented on sites like The Cutting Room Floor, plus screenshots and videos showing unreleased costumes like the race driver, Santa and zombie ones.
Each character has different abilities, much like they had in Super Mario Bros. 2: Luigi can jump higher, Peach can glide slowly to the earth after jumping and Toad can run faster than the others. The multiplayer works similarly to New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bros. U, in that players can enter a bubble at any time, pick each other up and throw each other, bounce on each others' heads, and so on. Like Mario, they can spend  coins at the Crazy Cap stores to buy items for the Odyssey and costumes. amiibo support includes Mario, Peach, Bowser, and a new character called Uncle amiibo, which unlocks more costumes, including ones based on Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, and Diddy Kong.

Either way, if no one else is working on one, I guess I'd better start doing that myself.
The "Snapshot Mode" returns from the previous game, where players can pause the game and take pictures using the Nintendo Switch's  button. Players are also able to alter the shot by zooming in and out, tilting the camera for a vertical shot, or apply one of several filters, ranging from blurring the surroundings, adding a sepia tone, changing the camera to a fish-eye lens, or applying an NES, Game Boy, or SNES-styled color scheme.

I personally don't it's necessary at all. It bloats the character section, and nobody does anything to fix it because taking images for every wildlife is will take a lot of time for a section not found in other main game articles. == Extra Move ==
sowells.deviantart.com/art/Sup…

Hi! I was just playing Super Mario Odyssey and I noticed that if you do a backward somersault and press the jump button as soon as you hit the ground, you can do a double jump while going backwards. Should this be added to the Mario's Moveset part of the page? - Mario64Guy (talk) 11:49, 20 December 2018 (EST)
Beanbean Kingdom: The fifth kingdom visited in Super Mario Odyssey 2. It takes place in a reimagined version of the Beanbean Kingdom from Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga/Bowser's Minions. Its is the home of Queen Bean, Lady Lima, Prince Peasley and possibly other royalty and servants. The Beanbean Kingdom is on an island like the Mushroom Kingdom.

Checkpoint locations
sowells.deviantart.com/art/Sup…
We have to address this issue sooner or later, might as well be sooner.

The Super Mario Odyssey kingdoms template currently lists every single checkpoint in the game, with links (mostly red) to each and every one of them, as if to suggest we should actually create articles for all of them. We should not. Do we have articles for every Power Moon? No. Do we have articles for every treasure in Wario: Master of Disguise? No. Should we give articles to every single solitary checkpoint in Super Mario Odyssey just because they have a name? No, no, a thousand times no. We don't split Windswept Valley from Tiny-Huge Island, nor do we split Hoohoo Mountain Base from Hoohoo Mountain. Something must be done.
Pi'illo Kingdom: The sixth kingdom visited in Super Mario Odyssey 2. It takes place in a reimagined version of the Pi'illo Island from Mario and Luigi Dream Team. It is the home of the ancient race known as the Pi'illos . As with Beanbean Kingdom, all of the areas are named after the theme of the area, except they are all puns on terms of sleep instead of types of laughter.

There was a proposal about this last year which the proposer ended up canceling. The problem with this proposal was that it wasn't clear enough about exactly which locations should get articles and which shouldn't. So I went over them and organized them into groups: what we should keep, what we might want to keep, and what we should get rid of.
sowells.deviantart.com/art/Sup…

KEEPERS: These are the areas that I think should stay. It includes three different kinds of areas.
Mech Kingdom: The seventh kingdom visited in Super Mario Odyssey 2.It takes place in a futuristic Metro City that resembles the city Tomorrowland from the movie Tomorrowland and Xandar from Guardians of the Galaxy.
# Towns with unique music from the rest of the kingdom (Tostarena Town, Peronza Plaza).
# Sub-areas that cause the name of the area to appear in big white text when entered (Underground Power Plant, Underwater Tunnel to the Lighthouse), or large, defined structures that contain such areas (New Donk City Hall). The only exceptions are New Donk City Hall Interior (which will be merged with the hall itself) and Deepest Underground (which is just an extension of Underground Temple and should be merged with it).
# Well-defined structures and major landmarks that don't already meet the previous criteria (Tostarena Ruins, Mayor Pauline Commemorative Park, Glass Palace).

*Areas: Top-Hat Tower, Tostarena Town, Tostarena Ruins, Jaxi Ruins, Inverted Pyramid, Underground Temple, Water Plaza, Sky Garden Tower, Deep Woods, Secret Flower Field, New Donk City Hall, Underground Power Plant, Mayor Pauline Commemorative Park, Shiveria Town, Icicle Cavern, Hollow Crevasse, Wind-Chill Cavern, Snowy Mountain, Snowline Circuit, Iceburn Circuit, Glass Palace, Underwater Tunnel to the Lighthouse, Peronza Plaza, Underground Moon Caverns, Wedding Hall, Rabbit Ridge Tower
Toy Kingdom: The eighth kingdom visited in Super Mario Odyssey 2.It takes place in a bright playful place where everything is made of toys. The buildings are made of building bricks, the ground is made of red ribbons, and the species are similar to stuff toys, ragdolls and action figures. The kingdom is based on Ribbon Road from Mario Kart and Yoshi's Woolly World.

BORDERLINE: Ones I'm not quite sure about. These locations are notable to varying degrees, and may or may not deserve articles in the long run. I'm leaning towards keeping them for now since the main point of this is weed out the really bad ones.
Pipe Kingdom: The ninth kingdom visited in Super Mario Odyssey 2.It takes place in a land where there's a large network of pipes. It is based on the underground levels of Super Mario Bros., and appears to take place in a sewer.

*Areas: Central Plaza, Desert Oasis, Moe-Eye Habitat, Forest Charging Station, New Donk City Hall Plaza, Outdoor Café, Beach House, Rolling Canyon, Lighthouse, Hot Spring Island, Goomba Woods, Mushroom Pond
DK Jungle Kingdom:The tenth kingdom visited in Super Mario Odyssey 2. It takes place on Donkey Kong Island. The jungle is based on Donkey Kong Country Returns. Some elements and enemies of this game make their appearance in this kingdom, like Tiki Goons, Screaming Pillars and DK's Tree House.Donkey Kong and the other supporting characters have dialogue.

DELETE: Everything not listed above belongs in the garbage, but here are some specific examples:
Arcade Kingdom: The eleventh kingdom visited in Super Mario Odyssey 2.It takes place in a pixel like world. The kingdom borrowed elements, characters, music, sound effects and locations from different games such as from Nintendo, Capcom, Sega and others.
*Any checkpoints that are just an "entrance" to or part of a greater location (Tostarena Ruins Entrance, Tostarena Ruins Sand Pillar, Water Plaza Entrance, New Donk City Hall Rooftop).
*Any of the "islands in the sky" that paintings lead to (Southwestern Floating Island, Diving Platform). They're just platforms with a Power Moon on them. Not notable enough.
*Meaningless, nondescript checkpoint locations (Tostarena Northwest Reaches, Ocean Trench East/West, Top of the Peak Climb).

I plan to make a proposal out of this soon, with options to keep the "keepers" only, include the "borderlines", or everything. It will, of course, be preliminary. If we keep the "borderline" articles, we can always weed out the ones we don't want with later proposals. Conversely, later proposals can call for the creation of articles previously deemed unworthy. There is absolutely no perfect solution to this problem, since in several cases, what qualifies as "notable enough" to have a page is subjective. However, we need to draw a line. So, any thoughts or questions? 21:09, 13 February 2019 (EST)
Shadow Cap Kingdom: The final kingdom visited in Super Mario Odyssey 2.It takes place in the dark version of Cap Kingdom, after the castle was taken over by the evil Lord Darkus and his minions.

: While I agree that some of the locations are borderline mundane, I feel that if the developers placed a checkpoint at that location and named it, it was significant enough for the player to return to. Half of the articles are already done, and I actually would be willing to finish the last half off if nobody minds. It's always possible to delete after everything's done later, so it can't hurt to have all the pages and then clear up the garbage later...
:EDIT: This was last year, lol. I'll do it anyway though. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 22:22, March 10, 2020 (EDT)
::Should wait for a consensus first. I'm not sure what has and hasn't been done yet, though. 22:25, March 10, 2020 (EDT)
:::@Alex95: You can see how much is done by looking at the kingdoms template. As mentioned, about half of them have been made.
:::@4e696e6a6f795844: I don't see the point in waiting to create a bunch of articles that are just going to be deleted. It will be a waste of time and effort, and I've already been waiting a year for this. 21:22, May 10, 2020 (EDT)

I think that this is a good idea, and that the "borderline" locations should be kept since they are locations that have a slightly different environment than the rest of the kingdom, such as Desert Oasis having water and palm trees and Goomba woods having Goombas and pine trees. 10:41, April 12, 2021

I have a suggestion.
Belfry:sowells.deviantart.com/art/Sup…

I was going to do this but the page is protected so I couldn't. Anyway, I think that under section 2.1 Controls, we should remove the "Single Player Controls" and "Two Player Controls" labels from the column names, as Pro Controllers and dual Joy-Con can also be used in 2-Player mode, including for controlling Cappy. I believe the labels should instead read "Dual Joy-Con/Pro Controller" and "Horizontal Joy-Con". Since horizontal Joy-Con can only be used in 2-Player mode, I suppose you could add "(Two Player Mode only)" to the Horizontal Joy-Con column label, but you get the gist. == Remove Enemy Table Spoils Column? ==
Orkallion:sowells.deviantart.com/art/Sup…
talk
I'm don't think I like spoils section in enemy tables. The big thing here is that almost everything in Odyssey appears in five different contexts with different kinds of rewards. Yoofoe is probably the big stickler here, considering the Power Moon and the Life Up Heart are from different circumstances yet saying which ones they are would shove much of the Yoofoe article into the enemy table's box. Also Cheep Cheep, where the one you fish out may as well be different objects than the ones you can bump into but both of their "spoils" are lumped together as though they are interacted with in the same way. :I am biased because I am the person who first started integrating this information for the 3D Super Mario games many years ago, beginning with Super Mario Galaxy, but I believe it is brief and valuable information. What an enemy drops when defeated sometimes varies on the context, but I feel like that is information that can be further stipulated on their respective enemy articles. Simply having quick cursory context clarifying that enemies sometimes drop things different from others provided mechanical context that I think is nice. - Nintendo101 (talk) 22:44, August 23, 2024 (EDT)

Does the Roll Cancel exist?
Boo, Bomb Boo and Tail Boo:sowells.deviantart.com/art/Sup…
I tried to do a Roll Cancel, but there seems to not be any kind of visual indicator or unique effect. Mechanics relating to ending a roll quickly aren't listed on Roll. This page's controls section is based heavily on the Prima guide, but the official excerpt includes the control scheme and does not have an entry for Roll Cancel. Can Mario cancel a roll at will (therefore being better at Spin Dashing than Sonic the Hedgehog) or is the Roll Cancel just a pipe dream? Salmancer (talk) 06:14, December 23, 2024 (EST)

Ah. I misread the instruction. I was pressing A and B and then when that didn't work I pressed X and Y. It works by pressing A and X or B and Y. (Or perhaps A and Y or B and X if you're a rebel) This is one of those oddballs isn't it. The "roll cancel" is just cancelling a Roll into a Cap Throw, so it doesn't even have it's own animation. On the other hand, no other combination of inputs can work this way, since A causes Long Jump and X makes the roll go faster. And it isn't just canceling the Long Jump with a Cap Throw because Long Jumps are accompanied by Mario's hollers, which aren't heard with this input.  Roll Cancel stands, though maybe we can change the name to "Cancel a roll" so it is less name-like? I think that this is a case where I would sacrifice specificity for clarity. "press switch or switch and switch or switch at the same time" is really hard to parse, even if its right. I'd try "press one button from both pairs of face buttons at the same time" Salmancer (talk) 11:22, December 23, 2024 (EST)
