:::I actually don't think this is stated officially anywhere.  It is however, implied, given that Tatanga works for Wario in SML 2.  However, this needs to be changed all over the wiki.  I know the instruction manual only says Wario took control of Mario's castle while Mario was away, not that Wario hired Tatanga.  However, the possibility can be mentioned, but to my knowledge, no offcial source confirms this.  -- [[User: Son of Suns|Son of Suns]]

==References==
These pathetic excuses for references should be removed. Why?
''"''Mario Bros. (game)|Mario Bros.'': The Fighter Fly enemies (or enemies that look and act very similar to them) make an appearance"''
*'''That's a formed opinion that is not worthy of mentioning.'''
''"''Super Mario Bros.'': Many of the boss battles in ''Super Mario Land'', especially the first one, were very similar to the battles against Bowser, where the player would either run or jump over the bosses to press the switch behind them, or the player could kill them by constantly shooting them. Also, the concept of the fake Princess Daisies is similar to the fact that Princess Toadstool was at another castle almost every time Mario defeated a boss. That there are common enemies turned into fake Daisies may also be a reference to the Fake Bowsers of ''Super Mario Bros.'', as they are regular enemies as well (Goombas, Koopas, etc.) Also, when the game is beaten, the player gets to replay the game with a few changes made (and also gets to select their stage)"''
*'''This is pretty much completely someone's point of view. In other words, their opinion. It is not a fact that especially in the first boss battle, it is similar to the boss battle with Bowser. All Mario boss battles could be said to be similar in some way. How unmentionable.
*'''ALSO, the concept of the fake Princess Daisy showing up is barely the same as Peach not being there when you complete a level. It is only one's opinion that these are mentionably similar.
*'''And then it just goes on to mention other similarities that are even more outrageous and once again p.o.v. Also, the last mention is ONCE AGAIN just because it's a game in the same series. Let's mention the fact you play as Mario, oh my gosh so similar to the other games. You're saving a princess, oh gosh so similar. These things are taken to points of view as well as the fact they are completely unmentionable, at the very least not worthy as having a whole section to mention them.'''
''"''Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins'': Tatanga reappears as a boss in this game."''
*'''And that is mentioned on Tatangas page as well as the games page. So why is it being said here?'''
''"''Super Smash Bros. Melee'' and ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'': Daisy has her own trophy, which also mentions Tatanga. Also, Daisy's brown hair and yellow dress is an alternate costume for Peach."''
*'''Yeah, Daisy has her own trophy, Daisy also appears in almost 40 total Mario games, how unique a mention. Daisy also doesn't have brown hair and everyone and their grandma knows the Smash series has character costumes.'''
''"''Super Princess Peach'' and ''Wario Land: The Shake Dimension'': The protagonists (Princess Peach and Wario, respectively) ride submarines in the underwater stages of these games, just as Mario does in ''Super Mario Land''."''
*'''Oh my gosh, do I honestly need to mention how ridiculous this is? That is not anywhere near worth mentioning.'''
''"''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'': In the Subspace Emissary, the theme song that plays inside the Ruins is a remix of the song that plays in Worlds 1-3, 3-2, and 3-3."''
*'''Something like this belongs in the trivia section. Why do we have these sections at all?''' [[User:ForeverDaisy09|ForeverDaisy09]] 10:13, 28 March 2010 (EDT)
:I agree, most seem like uninformational and opinionized crap.--{{User:Gamefreak75/Sig}}
::FD09's absolutely right about the Fighter Fly thing, Tatanga's reappearance and Daisy's ''SSB'' trophies. The submarine stuff might be worth keeping since ''SML'' '''was''' the first to do it, and for all we know Nintendo could have decided to recycle that idea, but since we don't know for sure, maybe it would be better to put it in the Trivia, or better yet, in the [[Marine Pop]]'s Trivia. As for the big ''SMB'' section, I actually think there's some valid points there: ''SML'' unabashedly paid homage to the original ''SMB'', and ignoring that would be a mistake. The battle against [[King Totomesu]] ''was'' very similar to the Bowser fights (the other battles weren't, though, and shouldn't be mentioned), and the Daisy fake-out was undeniably ''SML''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s version of the Toads - the fact that it involved fake enemies like the False Bowsers may or may not have been done on purpose, but regardless of intent, it ''is'' an interesting point that is worth bringing to the readers' attentions. The stuff about what happens after being the game is pointless, though, so it can be cut. And finally, if there were no references besides the ''Brawl'' music, it could be put in Trivia to save on space and clutter, but is we're keeping the ''SMB'' stuff, the music should stay right where it is because it ''is'' a noteworthy reference. - {{User:Walkazo/sig}} 13:38, 28 March 2010 (EDT)
:::The submarine part is really common sense, what else are they going to drive underwater, an airplane? I somewhat agree with the parts of the Daisy and the Toads by the way it sounds, but I haven't played SML so I can't bash half these answers/problems. We'll see what others think though. --{{User:Gamefreak75/Sig}}
==Sales Speak==
I'm Paper Mario Kart and this is Sales Speak. The game has 18.14 as of 1/27/12. Check out the others. What should I do next? Tell me what you think of the Sales Speak series!
==Nintendo EAD?==
Okay, the article states the game was not developed by Nintendo EAD but by Nintendo R&D1, yet the infobox states the developer is Nintendo EAD. Also, in the Nintendo EAD article, Super Mario Land is on the list of Mario games they developed.
What exactly is happening? {{User:Akfamilyhome/sig}} 09:25, 20 March 2012 (EDT)
:And for more information, Nintendo EAD is Nintendo R&D4, but not R&D1. {{User:Akfamilyhome/sig}} 00:48, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
== The Super Mario Land games are confirmed canon by Nintendo ==
Nintendo on their Japanese 30th anniversary website has posted "the history of the super mario series." All the games considered canon are still on the list, however the Super Mario Land games (specifically the first mario land and six golden coins)are added. Since this is indeed an official source by Nintendo, we have no choice but to edit this and the "Super Mario Land series" article to fit this official picture by Nintendo. If there is any reason why we should deny this official source please speak up. Here is the official source.
