When we started getting wiki article material for this game, whoever first wrote the course names down had to take an arbitrary decision of how to format them. Now that the game is out, I think it's worth reanalyzing it and see what the consensus actually is. There are two interlinked proposals here:

#Arend I was always supportive of using the courses' full titles, but I was wondering how we should represent the supertitles (since Wiggler Race Mountaineering! and KO Arena Fungi Funk don't convey the message that "Wiggler Race" and "KO Arena" are supposed to be titles nearly as well as Wiggler Race: Mountaineering! and KO Arena: Fungi Funk). But Rodmjorgeh does bring up a good point that the messages for Standees don't use anything to make those supertitles stand out either, so it's probably for the best that we'd do the same. Perhaps we can use color link templates and the DISPLAYTITLE magic word to give the supertitles a different color like the actual game does?

#Camwoodstock Per Rodmjorgeh--as far as Nintendo's concerned, those are the full titles, and we probably don't need em dashes. Especially since most QWERTY keyboards don't have those inherently, so that'd make them a nightmare to search for. ;P

:As the creator of many of these renders, I try to make it as clear as possible. These renders are not used in the main game article's enemy table (or at least I don't want this) and are found in the gallery section listed alongside other custom renders (pictures of unposed models are also custom renders). I've since tagged these renders as custom in the infoboxes. If we want to rely on screenshots on the infoboxes, that's fine. 21:23, November 18, 2023 (EST)

As the person who emailed Brian Shea, I should say I only asked about the names "Trompette" and "Swirlypod" and those are the only two he said were officialy given to him by Nintendo. I had to undo a bunch of edits citing that email response I recieved because any other name used is unconfirmed (such as the Wonder Effect variants and larger versions of enemies) and may very well just be conjectural. As noted with Wow Bud, some of the names used in said article are merely conjectural, so everything in it shouldn't be treated as an official Nintendo-sanctioned name apart from the two enemies I mentioned. :Fair enough, the scope of the response was misunderstood, but hold the phone - the Game Informer piece got "Downpour Cloud" before it was mentioned in this very article, and that's in the same boat as Marimba Block, where it has a localized internal string. In other words, it first appeared in Game Informer before it got sourced from the game. That alone makes it pretty clear there's more to this than Trompette and Swirlypod. If he's open to questions, why not reask for clarification on the rest of the names (or, better yet, if he'd be willing to share the list of Nintendo-approved names)? As the uploader of these renders, I request we please do not use these renders in the enemy tables. Stick to screenshots or cropped screenshots, whichever works. 22:59, January 29, 2024 (EST)

::I fear without a proper labeling scheme and how it's situated with official renders, it's easier to confuse these renders for being official. 23:42, January 29, 2024 (EST)
:::Jumping off this point, I'm not sure why the wiki is so committed to using game models as the main image in each individual enemy page. I feel like there is no other game where this is standard and it's common to simply use screenshots instead but everytime I put the screenshots as the images it gets changed sooner or later. Do you feel the same way for those pages, shouldn't the models be in the gallery and have the main image be a real game screenshot? I'm not sure where else to put this but this is topically related so there we go. — Qyzxf (talk) 15:29, February 2, 2024 (EST)
::::Over time I have come to be pro screenshots, but I think they are sometimes integrated in ways that look messy, the subject is out of focus, or the visual fidelity is poor. For the 3D games like Galaxy and Sunshine, I had integrated screenshots that are squared and in focus. I think the uniformity looks appealing, but that might just be saying more about me than anything else. But while screenshots are fine, I think models offer nice neutral displays in the same way 2D sprites do for the older games, and there are definitely contexts where that is preferred over a screenshot. You can still make out the general visual details/shape of a model or sprite when they are scaled down, whereas the subject of a screenshot sometimes gets warped too much. Others might feel differently though. - Nintendo101 (talk) 18:58, February 2, 2024 (EST)
