@PopitTart: It does actually make sense. Super Mario Run is a mobile app not a game you can play on a console. Besides Mario Kart Tour on the Mario Kart (series) page is also listet seperate. :Personally not really a big fan of that either, but at least there, the games are categorized by console. I think this is because no one can seem to agree upon if Mario Kart Tour is supposed to be a mainline title or not (as unlike Run, Tour has a completely different gameplay loop compared to its prior contemporaries, yet a huge bulk of its content (all the city courses, nearly all of its original non-city courses, as well as Peachette, Pauline and Kamek) are added to the Booster Course Pass as content from "past Mario Kart titles", while the Arcade GP titles were never included); and in turn, whether the new one will be the ninth mainline title or the tenth (something I hope will be clarified in the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct next month). It's a similar approach of what we did with the Mario Party series, as while back 10 years ago it was very easy to consider all the handheld titles as spinoffs since they weren't numbered, it's now up in the air whether Super Mario Party, Mario Party Superstars and/or Super Mario Party Jamboree count as mainline titles or not, forcing us to divide by | :Personally not really a big fan of that either, but at least there, the games are categorized by console. I don't think such is the case with the mainline Super Mario titles. 08:19, March 5, 2025 (EST) | ||
@Camwoodstock: As mentioned above. It's not complicated at all. The background to my proposal. Nintendo's developers themselves say Super Mario Bros. Wonder was the last 2D Mario game in almost 11 years after New Super Mario Bros. U. This excludes Super Mario Run and the Super Mario Maker games.
