:::As much as I want "pre-Country" and "post-Country" to be totally clear, the lines aren't always that simple. For example, which one is Baby DK? Logic dictates it should be Cranky/original DK by all accounts, but design-wise, he looks a lot closer to Rare/modern DK, with the forward tuft and eye pattern. What about the few post-Country instances where Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. are together? What about Game & Watch Gallery 4, where it's backward-tuft, Game Boy-style DK in the artwork but forward-tuft, Rare-style DK on the title screen? What about Super Mario Odyssey? It's in the 8-bit section ripped from the arcade sprite, so it should be Cranky, but there was that one time not too long ago in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U where modern DK took on his grandfather's original tieless sprite. Etc. Nintendo just uses whichever on a whim, so the way the wiki handles it currently is best given the situation. Cranky Kong's legacy/possible appearances as Donkey Kong belong to that article.
