Split machine parts into their own articles?
I'll preface this by saying I have never played MP5 and as such this is WAY out of my territory, but the machine parts in this game seem to be the precedent for what MK7 and MK8 do, and have their own statistics. I feel we can and should split them. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:40, September 4, 2022 (EDT)

:They do have their own statistics but I don't think it's very well documented on how they interact with the statistics. It's sort of similar to that stupid Mii dress-up sidemode in Mario Tennis Open where technically each part has a stat associated but Mario Tennis Open handled that even more obtusely with no good explanation of any stat and you're given a confusing pie chart to show a stat; it's hard to tell how a part modifies stats. They even have hidden attributes, such as weapons having weight (the Mr. I laser for instance won't decrease the machine speed as much as the DK Gun will). The Scholar Body ALSO does take less damage from hazards per description but isn't shown in the graph; the Wiggler Tires can turn in place. Some weapons have strange offensive capabilities too such as the Mr. I Laser (it's a broken weapon lol) doesn't always take off two hearts but will if there are only two hearts remaining; maybe it does damage in decimals). 17:44, September 4, 2022 (EDT)

::Wonder how easily internal variables can be obtained for this... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:04, September 4, 2022 (EDT)
:::I'd argue that some of the parts, most notably the weapons, actually change more in terms of gameplay than the vehicle parts in Mario Kart so I definitely think they should get their own articles. Plus, the names in other languages section is an eyesore for individual part names and I'd like to get that sorted out. 20:16, September 4, 2022 (EDT)

Split the relevant objects
Settled TPP
passed
So this side mode has enough content to be a game of its own. However, of its unique subjects, only the arenas have their own articles. Several things else here, however, can and should be split.
# All machine parts (essentially a MK7/8 kart build forerunner, but the weapons are especially different from each other)
# All CPU machine combinations (with driver nicknames)
# Misc. objects (Robo-Rabbit and flag)
so I propose to split them.

Split only machine parts and CPU machines (1,2)
<s> #Mari0fan100 Apologies for having this proposal go all over the place, but I think the miscellaneous objects aren't long enough to have their own articles. I'm ok with splitting the other stuff, though. </s>

Split only machine parts and misc. objects (1,3)
#ShootingStar7X Just because CPU combinations have a name and description doesn't make them any more notable than they'd be otherwise, I'd say.
#Killer Moth Per ShootingStar7X. The CPU combinations feel unnecessary to make separate pages for. However having pages for the machine parts and misc. objects makes sense and can be done,
#Spectrogram per all, I'm always in support of covering objects on their own articles.
#Ray Trace Per all and my comments above.
#Mari0fan100 Changing my vote, per all except Doc. Sorry for being a bit hasty with my first vote.
#ThePowerPlayer Per all. I see no reason to make separate pages for the CPU combinations; if a combination is formed using a certain part, a brief mention of the combination within that part's article would be enough.

Comments
No offense, but this talk page proposal seems a bit confusing to me? There's five different options, and I'm having trouble figure out which one to decide, but I probably won't choose the "do nothing" option. Could we at least figure out how parts modify stats first? 16:06, September 16, 2022 (EDT)
:I don't plan on enacting this immediately, just put it as a known long-term goal. (Honestly stat things shoulda been on here before this became a featured article, but I digress.)
