Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games have a Start Dash but, should this be merged to the rocket start article? In this TPP, you be the judge. Should we merge, or not?

Both this page and the Rocket Start page describe the same generic act of getting a head start in a race by timing a certain action well during the countdown. No, it being present in multiple unrelated games isn't a reason to keep them split in itself. Aesthetic distinctions the likes of "karts emitting fire through their exhaust during a Rocket Start" aren't a good reason either.

#Pseudo Per all.
#Pseudo Per all.
#Arend Per all. Also, ThePowerPlayer's argument of "Rocket Starts can only be achieved by vehicles and Start Dashes can only be achieved in footraces" doesn't make any sense when the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series always calls a head start boost a "Starting Dash" (with or without caps), regardless of the event in question being on foot, on skates, on a bicycle, or in a bobsled.

<s>#ThePowerPlayer A Rocket Start exclusively refers to a starting boost achieved by charging a kart or vehicle, while a Start Dash exclusively refers to a starting boost in a footrace, achieved by the user charging their own energy instead.</s>

Regardless of whether this proposal succeeds of fails, doesn't anyone find it weird that the 2007 Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is the only one of its series listed? Like, I could've sworn that nearly every race event across the entire series allows the player to make a head start akin to the Rocket Start in Mario Kart (this includes all track events, but also all Speed Skating events from the Olympic Winter Games entries). I feel like that section could be expanded to encompass the entire Olympic Games series and include their respective race events that allow for a head start. 12:30, August 6, 2023 (EDT)

:Moreover, the Speed Skating and Ski Cross events' instructions from the Vancouver and Sochi Olympic Winter Games (as well as those for Snowboard Cross and Bobsleigh for Vancouver) refer to it as a starting dash (no caps), as the track events' instructions from the London Olympic Games call it a Starting Dash (with caps), while also inferring there's a super starting dash (again no caps). 12:44, August 6, 2023 (EDT)

:When I made my vote in opposition, I was unaware that the Start Dash was used for events with vehicles and not just for footraces, since the article doesn't make this explicitly clear, and the accompanying image is one of a footrace. I do agree with Arend that the mechanic's role in the Mario & Sonic series should be expanded, regardless of the proposal's outcome. Seeing as the Start Dash's only other appearance is in Super Mario Galaxy, where it doesn't have any official name, I can support a merge. 17:48, August 6, 2023 (EDT)
