::This is still incredibly vague "proof". For one, "space" is like an entire system of things that are not in Planet Earth (I could argue that Earth is in space too). If we encountered the rabbits on a moon-like planet, then, yes, it is possible it could be based on the pareidolia observed by Eastern Asian countries on the moon. They aren't, however. I think it's more likely they're rabbits mostly because ''Super Mario 64'' first used rabbits as things you should catch, and this game simply followed suit by making them space.
