| I just realised that there are more than just one Squawks in the series, like [[Quawks]] (and maybe [[Tawks]] and [[Screech]]?) or the many Squawks that appear often in [[Donkey Kong 64]] (most notably in the intro and ending), so shouldn't this page be changed into a species page, or maybe treated like the [[Toads]]/[[Yoshis]] articles, where there's both a page for the species and one for the character? Actually, this question could also applies to seals, due to the existence of [[Clapper the Seal]], and Donkey Kong 64's [[Seal|pirate seal]] (which the intro shows at the very least two swimming around [[DK Island]]). --[[User:Metalex123|Metalex123]] ([[User talk:Metalex123|talk]]) 15:03, January 5, 2023 (EST)

| :Probably not, Squawks always seems to be treated as an individual. The only exception I can find is the Tropical Freeze manual referring to "one Squawks", but that's specifically in the context of Squawks being a purchaseable item that you can stock up on multiples of. Also, Squawks (along with all the other Animal Buddies) seems to just be a regular parrot, rather than a distinct parrotlike species. --{{User:Waluigi Time/sig}} 15:30, January 5, 2023 (EST)

It seems like a Boom-Boom type situation where it's either/or depending on what is convenient for the developers, but splitting pages would only do a disservice to the reading. | ::::Those are just duplicates of the established Squawks and Seal characters, and they are background characters with nil effect on the gameplay or even the plot. | :::::Yeah. There have been on-screen or implied duplicates of the other Animal Friends besides. For example, there are two Enguardes at least in the Coral Capers and Poison Pond levels of the original ''Donkey Kong Country''. I'm also pretty sure I might've seen them referred to in plural a few times in guides or digital manuals. I know for a fact that the ''Donkey Kong Country Returns'' Prima guide refers to Rambi as "''a'' Rambi" on page 23, and the same page in the 3DS version guide adds ''more'' instances of "a" or "the" Rambi on top of that. And don't the Animal Barrels and No Animal Signs imply there are multiples, too? Plus, had ''Donkey Kong Racing'' been released, it'd likely have kept the animal recolors.
