Does anyone think that articles about Booster's henchmen Snifits, Snifit #1, Snifit #2 and Snifit #3 could be made, I would think there'd be enough information on them to warrant an article, as they appear in Moleville, Booster Tower, Booster Hill, Marrymore and those little cinemas you see when you look into the balcony of Booster Tower later in the game. -- [[User: Sir Grodus|Sir Grodus]]

Number 4 is not actually the Apprentice. If you lose to the Apprentice, it becomes #4. If you lose to another Apprentice, it becomes #5. I actually thinks this goes on to #6 or #7 (I forget). Ok, so I'm aware that Snifits are literally Shy Guys with a different mask, but I just want to put an idea on the table:

* Usually when an enemy is meant to be a variant of another enemy, their Japanese name is based on them. The Japanese names for Shy Guy and Snifit are Hei-ho and Mu-cho respectively, with the former being an anagram and the latter being Subcon + Military leader. Bandit's Japanese name is also different from Shy Guy, but Bandit was confirmed to be a Shy Guy enemy in Minion Quest.
* Usually when an enemy is meant to be a variant of another enemy, there's some sort of bio saying they are. As far as I can see:
**Most bios talk about how shy Shy Guys are and how Snifits shoot bullets without mentioning their connection
**SSBM Does have a list of things Shy Guys have done, but it doesn't seem to bring up Snifits(The closest is "throw balls", but that's most likely [[Green Glove]]).
**Mario Party Superstars is the only time AFAIK that there's a bio about Snifit's relation to Shy Guys, but it's basically saying "They look similar to Shy Guys but they're differentiated by their masks", not "These are Shy Guys with different masks". A subtle difference, sure, but I believe it's an important one.
**The original SMB2 that they both originated in doesn't say anything about [https://www.digitpress.com/library/manuals/nes/Super%20Mario%20Bros%202.pdf their relation]. Note how it does mention the Shy Guy relation for [[Beezo]] and [[Ostro|"Birdo"]].
**The [[Island Museum]] In Yoshi's Island DS doesn't list the [[Scorchit|only kind of Snifit]] that appears in the game as a "Shy Guy Enemy", but rather a "Subterranean Enemy".
**As Doc has informed me, Minion Quest lists the variants of Snifits separate from the [[Chuck Guy|Variant of Shy Guy]].
* Usually when an enemy is meant to be a variant of another enemy, they have a similar appearance. In this case, Shy Guy and Snifit are literally the same design with a mask swap(but bear with me for a second longer please).

Now with this in mind, I want to say a few more things:

*Snifits and Shy Guys use the same voice clips in a number of appearances.
*In TOK, one particular Snifit who is facing a wall says if Mario mistook him for a Shy Guy(as Swallow told me).
*Snifit and Shy Guy debuted in the same game(SMB2) and one didn't seem to be more prominent than the other in SMB2.
*In Color Splash, Snifits and Shy Guys had variants that [[Slurp Guy|para]][[Slurp Snifit|lleled]] [[Spike Guy|each]]-[[Spike Snifit|other]].
*The Japanese names might actually be similar to eachother, as Heiho is an anagram of the Japanese writing of "Foot Soldier", and Mucho means "Subcon Military Leader", so there could be a similar name intent. And with everything else I said above, I'd say it's definite that they're super closely related, but it's likely that Shy Guy wasn't meant to be the parent species(If anything, Snifit had more prominence in SMB2).

I might be grasping at straws, and I might be ignoring some overlooked-but-important source confirming Shy Guy is the parent species of Snifit, but might it be possible that Shy Guy and Snifit were originally parallels of the same "robe-wearing dream soldier" type enemy and Shy Guy just became more prominent than Snifit did, instead of Snifit being made as a variant of Shy Guy? (I am not asking for a merge or a split or anything like that, I'm just talking about both species' relations to each other.) While it seems to predate the Shogakukan line of guides, I think we can consider it an official source since it also seems to be the first named appearance of Flurry (ナカボン), Spark (スパック), and Tweeter (リートン), who were missing in the original manual (incidentally, page 23 also refers to Tweeter as...ducklike (アヒルなど)?). This suggests that they should be considered "relatives" at minimum. There's also ''[https://imgur.com/a/UvABP Perfect Ban Mario Character Daijiten]'', which [https://i.imgur.com/BAiG7SV.jpeg here] refers to Snifit as a "power-up" version of Shy Guy - the same term the book uses for others such as Fire Bro, which we consider a derivative of Hammer Bro. For reference: the Dutch localisation decided to name it ''Cadet'', referring to the rank given to students in the military because they are weaker than a regular Snifit within the ranks of Booster's minions.
