This isn't the only case where boss fights can be ended by hitting a button behind the boss - it first happens in Super Mario Land (where it is unnamed, and the sprite is too small to show any sort of detail like a skull), and then later in the other NSMB games. Currently, the former does not have a page, and the latter are included on [[! Switch]] along with the sort seen in Super Mario World that "turn on" solid line blocks (please note, the latter is the only type that the article introduction mentions!), although since the latter technically isn't conjecturally-named, I'm leaving that version as an alternate option in the poll rather than the main one (remember that, per the recent proposal that passed, you can vote for two options in a three-option poll).
