I've vacuumed both, and while they DIDN'T contain treasure, I was still able to search them without starting the King Boo battle. --[[User:LUIGIMAN739|LUIGIMAN739]] 09:33, 1 April 2010 (EDT)

It is said that you may scan and activate the mirror from the Bottom of the Well. However, this is not that simple.
After you watch the cutscene (any time), you may walk into the hollow part of the lion statue. While in there the game says to you that you are inside the "Secret Altar". If you step backwards, it will say that you that you are inside the "Bottom of the Well". In both cases you may scan the mirror, but it will only work when you are inside the "Secret Altar".
