| == Triangle Love ==
| |
|
| |
| I definitely think each Pure Heart represents a different type of love, and it would be worth going over that in the article, but the current "source(s) of love" in the chart seem wrong. I.e. there's too much overlap with maternal, paternal and familial, and hope has nothing to do with love. However, the [[wikipedia:Triangular theory of love|Triangular theory of love]] (based on whether different types of love have intimacy, passion, commitment or combinations of the three) seems to fit really well:
| |
|
| |
| *'''Friendship''' - intimacy only - '''Green''': Tippi feels a rush of (platonic) warmth and closeness to her new friends upon being rescued
| |
| *'''Infatuation''' - passion only - '''Orange''': Merlumina is all about passion, but it's fleeting and shallow
| |
| *'''Empty''' - commitment only - '''Indigo''': King Croacus loves his people and they love him, but it's dutiful, not intimate or passionate
| |
| *'''Romantic''' - intimacy and passion - '''Violet''': The romance between King Sammer I and Merlumina's sister
| |
| *'''Companionship''' - intimacy and commitment - '''Blue''': The love of Squirps's mom, which endured long after she herself was gone
| |
| *'''Fatuous''' - passion and commitment - '''Yellow''': Merlee is a passionate lady and committed to the prophesy of the Four Heroes, but never really has any love interests or close connections, iirc
| |
| *'''Consummate''' - all three - '''White''': Jaydes and Grambi's love for each other was so deep, it brought Luvbi to life, 'nuff said
| |
| *'''Nonlove''' - none - '''Red''': The leadup to the receiving of the first heart is the bastardization of love calling forth the Chaos Heart and Void, so the less extreme version of that is simply the absence of love; plus, you're just given it right at the beginning, and love takes time to grow, so yeah, I think it works well enough

| If anyone has feedback, let me know. It's speculative, yes, but has basis in actual philosophy and is pretty straightforward, I think, and like I said at the start, I think it'd be worth having something on the article, as I'm sure at least some readers wonder about it... - {{User:Walkazo/sig}} 00:12, 26 March 2016 (EDT)

| ::It may be based in philosophy but I feel that it's still stretching to even try and connect each individual heart to a "source of love" to begin with, as none of it seems to be based on any actual in-game evidence other than trying to connect the characters and circumstances to them. If they do, they do, but as far as I can find the Pure Hearts as a whole just seem to embody the power of love in general.

| :::Honestly, I think what Walkazo has suggested is better than we have. Maybe we don't say it directly comes from the Triangular Theory of love, but we can point out the coincidences I guess. {{User:Baby Luigi/sig}} 11:09, 28 March 2016 (EDT)
