I know someone here, probably Mister Wu, has the Japanese version of the new Mario Encyclopedia, anyone know the Japanese names of these and whether they match up with Skeeter? Doc von Schmeltwick 18:10, 15 September 2017 (EDT)

:For completion's sake, the English guides (besides Prima, natch) call the Pondskater "water bugs" (Player's Guide, pg. 32), "Blue Spider" (BradyGames, pg. 4), and "Blue Spider" (Versus Books, pg. 33, and yes, the BradyGames and Versus Books guides use the same names). 18:29, 15 September 2017 (EDT)

As seen here , the Japanese names for the Skeeters in 64, the "Pondskaters" described here, and the Skeeters of Galaxy 2 are all the same, being メンボ (Menbo, from amenbo, the word for water striders). Now I may receive opposition for their different design and behavior, but this is Super Mario Sunshine, where such physical and behavioral differences are omnipresent. The only real way this argument works is with how Klamber was basically forgotten about.....I'll have to ask about that one's Japanese name at some point.

#Mister Wu Agreed, not to say that even explained why the design of the enemies is different.
#Wildgoosespeeder Definitely on-board with this merge. I didn't like it with Skeeter (New Super Mario Bros.), although that's a different split than Pondskater and Skeeter being split.

What are your thoughts on Wiggler (Super Mario Sunshine) and King Boo (Super Mario Sunshine)?  14:51, 1 October 2017 (EDT)
:Wiggler is an interesting case, given that most wiggler bosses are technically Big Wigglers, but much as the situation with Big Chain Chomp, they are only considered "Big" if there's a smaller "normal" size to compare it too. The Green Wiggler is different enough from the other Wiggler bosses to be split from it, but Wiggler Bosses in general could easily be split from Wiggler enemies in general, as can Big Boos, especially since we already have a page  specifically for a specific Big Boo boss. As for King Boo? The King Boo in Sunshine is certainly different from the other King Boos, especially since his laugh sounds more like Chauncey's than anything. The Japanese name accounts for that enough. However, I also believe that the King Boo from the Luigi's Mansion series is different from the one that first appeared in Double Dash!!, based on the completely different appearance, the fact that "King Boo the First" as I call him was roughly the same size as a normal Boo in his first appearance, and the fact that KB1 was stuck in a painting between the two LM games, and demonstratively hadn't had any contact with either of the bros. during that time. As such, that was "King Boo the Third"'s time to shine. Now another intricacy regarding Big Boo, is that the normal Big Boo, including the Paper Mario depiction, is known as "Atomic Teresa" in Japan, while the Big Boo in Dark Moon is known as "Jumbo Teresa," which is the same as Boolossus. Furthermore, the Mario Pinball Land Big Boo is named "Boss Teresa," the same as "King Boo the Second" from Sunshine. For completion's sake, the Mario Party 2 version is "Master Teresa." Basically, both of the pages you mentioned are split for good reasons, given the original names are different. ::The name "Boss Teresa" is also in SM64, in the Japanese name of Big Boo's Balcony. SmokedChili (talk) 06:10, 7 October 2017 (EDT)
