| See above. ''Nintendo Power'' consistently refers to this enemy as Pogo Guy instead of Ape. While we have it on good word that Ape was ''[[Talk:Wario Land II#Enemy names|an]]'' enemy name, we're not 100% certain if it refers to ''this'' enemy, nor is the name seen in any other material. There are several instances of game sprites being misread, such as referring to Shy Guys as "[[Mario Mania|zombies]]" or Flames as "dragons". It's just as possible that someone misinterpreted, for instance, Gaugau as an ape. Additionally, ''Nintendo Power'' does share several e-mail names such as penguin and Spear Guy, and while the latter was initially assumed to be Pirate Goom, ''Nintendo Power'' reveals in context that it's supposed to be the giant spear man. The e-mail names are usually self-explanatory, but as it's also not the only ape enemy in the game (see Grunt). Overall, I think Pogo Guy is the name that should be used here, with the "pogo" in question being its ability to transform Wario into Bouncy Wario. I've included two ways to do this: the first simply prioritizes Pogo Guy over Ape while mentioning the latter, and the second also scrubs direct mention of Ape on the article but leaves it as a redirect ala [[Talk:Snapjaw#"Snap Claw"|Snap Claw]].

| :Responding in numerical order: 1) That's not what I was saying, but there is the distinct possibility that the same enemy was listed twice under different names, 2&3) It's just a quick example I had off the top of my head of a NoA person at around the era misreading the intended game sprites, as page 14 of ''Mario Mania'' notoriously refers to Shy Guys as "wandering zombies" (most likely misinterpreting the masks as skulls) when that was never the case anywhere else; Pure Water would've worked on them in ''Super Mario RPG'', Zombie Guys were introduced as a variant in ''Yoshi's Crafted World'', etc. Though if you want another example from the same game, there's also a reference to Captain Syrup's Pirate Gooms as "beetles", 4) What they have in common is that both names originated from web content and neither were directly attributed to a specific enemy (notice how Snap Claw could easily work as a name for [[Cuttacutta]]), 5) Several reasons, mainly that Spear Guy much more [[MarioWiki talk:Naming#Make an exception to source priority for articles with identical names|commonly]] refers to [[Spear Guy|another]] subject, and giant spear man is a near-direct translation of its Japanese name. I'll add one more thing for the record: magazines and web content fall under the same [[MarioWiki:Naming#English and non-English sources|Naming]] heirarchy, but guides are higher, and Nintendo Power magazine's coverage can be considered a guide in itself.
