A recent proposal decided to give each type of nut its own page. Unfortunately, I missed the deadline to comment on it after verifying my data. I agree that each type of nut should get its own page; however, I disagree on the names. In Bowser's Inside Story the names for a single unit of each of the nut items are Nuts, Super Nuts, Ultra Nuts, and Max Nuts. In battle using any of these items results in two nuts going up in the air with each brother eating one. How then can the new pages have the singular forms as their titles? That would seem to be saying these articles only cover half an item. Is any of this making sense? Do I need a talk page proposal? :Even if the Nuts usually come in pairs of two, that doesn't mean there are always two of them. If a Nut is used while someone is knocked out, only one Nut is thrown out. Despite what they may be listed as, it wouldn't make sense to use the plural form for a single item.
Name
Why is the singular conspired more appropriate? Especially when these things are frequently consumed in pairs? 00:38, 19 January 2016 (EST)
:Check the section above you.
::I see. Although I still think we should keep it as nuts, especially when the inventory specifically calls them "nuts", implying that they come in pairs as opposed to "Mushroom". It's like renaming "Boots" to "Boot". Sure, when one guy is left, he eats one, but that's gameplay reasons. 00:46, 19 January 2016 (EST)
:::It's also gameplay reasons that two guys eat a nut when there are two left. There are always going to be two Boots, hence the name, but there's a likely chance of there being one Nut in play.
::::But that's the nuts' defining trait, by feeding two men but is treated as one pair. As I said, the game even lists these items as "nuts" in the inventory while "Mushroom" is in singular, if I recall correctly. The article should reflect that. 00:51, 19 January 2016 (EST)
:::::I still don't agree with that. Even if it's their gimmick, it's not an exclusive deal, and the article should reflect that.
::::::But from what I can tell, the item is only called "Nuts" ingame, not "Nut". The singular name isn't official. Niiue (talk) 23:39, 19 January 2016 (EST)
:::::::Prima calls them just "Nut".
::::::::Just because Prima uses it doesn't mean we should when the game specifically says nuts. Warioad (talk) 14:45, 23 January 2016 (EST)
::::::::Ingame names are higher priority. Niiue (talk) 15:32, 23 January 2016 (EST)
:::::::::The Superstar Saga Nintendo Power guide also supports singular Nut, even though in-game it's often plural except apparently when one of the Max Nuts is collected from a mole ("You got a MAX Nut!"). In contrast, Dream Team Bros. definitely refers to Nut as a single unit, so Nut seems more recent overall unless Paper Jam messed this up.
