| == Explain me this: ==
| |
|
| |
| Why do all the video game consoles' articles have their games' gallery sorted in alphabetical order yet Nintendo 3DS, Wii U and Nintendo Switch inexplicably have their games' gallery sorted by release date? This is a bit incongruent, we should use one consistent order for all consoles.

| :Can't believe I just found this place very awesome! I'm a regular editor over at Wikipedia and this was no error. This discussion at WikiProject Video Games is the consensus that Switch should be included as an 8th gen console. This discussion on the 8th gen talk page triggered the wider WP:VG discussion which includes sources from reliable industry sources grouping Switch in the same generation as PS4 and Xbox One. The consensus can change if the video game industry begins to place Switch clearly as a 9th gen console. --Alucard 16 (talk) 10:19, 12 January 2019 (EST)

| The Joy-Con section appears to have grossly outdated information. In particular, the end of the first paragraph there states 'two games are currently set to release... 1-2-Switch... and ARMS'. | :The webpage in that reference when I added it contained the full NES library lineup for Europe up until December 2018, but for some reason it's gone now. It also didn't really explain at all how the "special" versions would be different from the original versions, only tagging some of the games with "(SP)" and a note at the top saying "SP = Special version". 08:36, 16 September 2018 (EDT)

| |
|
| |
| People have been repeatedly adding into this article and the 3DS article that the 3DS is apparently the Switch's predecessor alongside the Wii U, so I think it's time to actually discuss this. Are there any official sources that call the 3DS a predecessor for the Switch, or ones that don't? When I google it, all I see are forum pages which call it so.
| |
| :Officially, the Nintendo Switch is mainly presented as a new type of device that can be considered the successor of the Wii U, with docked mode making it some kind of a home console; practically, the Lite revealed what we already knew: it’s a handheld console first and foremost, aiming at being a portable Wii U, as the game library shows. So in practical terms it’s a successor to both, officially it’s more of a successor of the Wii U, with it being initially marketed as a home console you can take around with you.—Mister Wu (talk) 10:13, October 2, 2020 (EDT)

| #Hewer The way the article is right now already says that the Switch is a hybrid console but is marketed primarily as a home console, which I think is a perfect compromise. Also, as some general advice, "other wikis do it this way" is almost never a good argument because those wikis are completely separate from this one and have different rules.

| :I find myself having to link to it enough that I think it's worth it. It definitely qualifies as relevant to Mario, being necessary for online play in Mario games for the Switch, plus the Booster Course Pass is part of the Expansion Pack, and there's the various Mario games featured in its retro game libraries (which admittedly do have their own pages but it's good to have something to link to every time we say such and such is exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online and/or the Expansion Pack). Compare Nintendo eShop and the Virtual Console, for example. 16:41, July 30, 2023 (EDT)
