Why would Nintendo make an "experience" to look like a game and tell everyone it's not? I think it's a game since they have developed levels and have added new elements. --Rosalina1234 13:54, 19 July 2011 (EDT)Rosalina 1234

::It is a game, but it was never released for the public to play, therefore the release date should be removed. iruni181

Is this game REALLY going to be cancelled? I plan on getting a Wii U when it's released. -

::I guess it's just like Super Mario 128 then (remember that?) I'm glad in a way, as I'm waiting for SM3DL, and to buy two systems and games that close together would be a bit too much.
::What would be cool is if they used these scraps of games for something. Like put them in released games as extras; like they already have bonus and hidden levels and such.Eric B 12:33, 24 October 2011 (EDT)

Game Renamed
Recently it was announced that the game is going to be officially named New Super Mario Bros U.Andrezlatin
:There is no proof that New Super Mario Bros. U is this game under a new name. Also, please remember that new topics belong at the bottom of the page and that all posts should be signed.Jazama 18:36, 5 June 2012 (EDT)
::And there is going to be a New Super Mario Bros. U, but it doesn't really include Miis.

Merge
I have said this before, and I'll say it again. This game is a prototype of New Super Mario Bros. U. NSMBU and this game ARE THE SAME GAME. The pages should be merged ASAP.--Thejfh1999 (talk) 18:41, 30 October 2013 (EDT)
:I think the same: technically the levels are the same, but because of this we cann't put it in "Beta elements", and neither in "Trivia" in my opinion... maybe we should write in the trivia of the levels of this "game" that they appear in New Super Mario Bros. Mii? Tsunami
::I agree with Thejfh1999, its extremly obvious from the images/videos and the fact that Nintendo implied (and possibly even outright said) that this game was "renamed" to NSMBU.. @Tsunami why can't this page should be merged into NSMBU's "beta" elements page? What do you mean the levels are the same? You obviously haven't looked at the video and images very carefully, they levels have differences. And have you forgotten about all the other differences (e.g. graphics, playing as Miis, music, sound effects, etc)? --Hiccup (talk) 12:39, 11 March 2015 (EDT)
:::nsmb u is a retail product, while NSMB Mii has been consistently described as a tech demo (and the one Iwata Ask about it doesn't really say anything about it one way or another, so I don't know where the "implying" stuff is from). Even if assets from NSMB Mii were obviously used for NSMBU, they're, from what can beo bserved, separate things from a development standpoint. I see no problem with the current arrangement, just like Balloon Trip and Yoshi Touch & Go have separate pages. --Glowsquid (talk) 13:10, 11 March 2015 (EDT)
::::One could describe any prerelease version of a game as a "tech demo". The NSMBM spokepeople were describing it as a "tech demo" because :
a. they were told to keep the fact that it was to be a retail game a secret
b. they were told to say it was not a retail game because the developers were not sure if they wanted to make it into a retail game yet.
Three things clearly point to NSMBM being NSMBU before a name change.
1. The stone totems appear in NSMBM and NSMBU. And it is much more likely that this is because they are the same game, rather than because they copied an original asset from one game, to a different project.
2. A Nintendo World report article says 'a spokesperson for Nintendo of America replied with, “In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U system will be shown at this year's E3 Expo. This is based on the Mario experience that was demonstrated at last year's E3 Expo. We'll have more to announce about our plans for the E3 Expo at a later date.”'. The spokeperson said "based on", does this not imply that NSMBU is based NSMBM? Since when do Nintendo spokespeople say that a game was "based on" something what was later proved to be a different game?
3. In the E3 2012 New Super Mario Bros. U Iwata Asks, Takashi Tezuka says that they changed the name to New Super Mario Bros. U because of the Wii U's name, but he doesn't say what from. What exactly makes you think it is more likely they were sperate developments? They are just too similar! They are both sidescrolling Mario games featuring playable Miis! The problem with the current arrangement is that it is spreading disinformation. --Hiccup (talk) 15:05, 11 March 2015 (EDT)

Course 2
So I noticed that all courses in this demo except Course 2 returned in NSMBU and therefore have images. However, Course 2 did not, and therefore does not have an image. I think that Course 2 should get an image. -YoshiFlutterJump (talk) 17:39, 6 June 2017 (EDT)
:Course 2 exists in the final game (i.e. NSMBU) as Bouncy Cloud Boomerangs. The reason there isn't a picture for it is because all those pictures are the official press screenshots - and there wasn't one of Course 2. It did appear in the demo though, so you could take a frame from one of the videos taken of that demo. Hiccup
