In Super Mario Galaxy, what is passively localized as "moving sand" in the Prima Games guidebook is called 流砂 (ryūsa) in the Shogakukan encyclopedia (page 137). This is the Japanese term for quicksand and the name given to it in Super Mario Bros. 3 (page 41) and Super Mario 64 (page 92), which have their own page here. The sand in Super Mario Galaxy that traps and kills Mario - the one that is localized as "quicksand" in the same English guide and shares the same article (and function) as the quicksand in SMB3 and SM64 - is uniquely called 砂地獄 (suna jigoku) in the Shogakukan (137). Because suna jigoku shares the same behavior and appearance as the quicksand in SMB3 and SM64, this seems appropriate to me, but the exclusion of the "moving sand" from the main Quicksand article runs counter to how organize other articles on the Wiki, especially with enemies. Given we do not support articles for Green and Red Koopa Troopas, I think this article's contents should be merged with Quicksand and just treated as a variant of it. - Nintendo101 (talk) 16:53, July 6, 2023 (EDT) | In Super Mario Galaxy, what is passively localized as "moving sand" in the Prima Games guidebook is called 流砂 (ryūsa) in the Shogakukan encyclopedia (page 137).
