when they call it world -1, reely they had no numeral for 0 soooo, it would be normally be called world 0-1. since they didn't have a numeral for 0, its invisible,

for example:

*world 1-1 is normal
*world -1 is the minus world,

If I remember correctly, you warp to 0-1. then make your way through the water, and finish world 0. PEACH tells you that she's in another castle...then you continued to 36-1, shown as: " -1" world 37 and onward...looks cloudy I found by cheating and other software on an emulator. I think I know the reason. Before going to the warp zone, it uses assets from the 2nd warp zone, the one leading to Worlds 36, [[World 5|5]], and 36. The tile used for world 36 is the blank tile, so that only 5 appears above the lone pipe. As for {{User:LeftyGreenMario/sig}}s question, worlds 9-35 do "exist", as well as Worlds 37-255 and World 0. There are only 8 worlds. There is no "World 0" or "World 9-255". Just because the index for Worlds has 255 values, and the game is simple enough to load whatever garbage data that index ends up pointing to when you increment it outside of its range, doesn't mean that those are "Worlds." Saying that those are "Worlds" is akin to saying that New Super Mario Bros. Wii has 2,147,483,647 "worlds" if you found out that it used a 32-bit unsigned integer to point to the index that stored the levels in that game, and that it was just some kind of coincidence that 99% of those "worlds" crashed the game. Total bull***p you say, @above. Super Mario Bros has a total of 256 Worlds. Those have 256 levels, though not all appear actually, and they're hidden within the code. Not only that. I've done the minus world thing for decades and never once did I have to duck as part of it. Nintendo Fun Club Newsletter issue 2, which is the first place most people could have ever heard of minus world back in the 80's (and where I heard of it) doesn't mention ducking, either. The name is properly Sky World, between Z World and Blank World, and the stage has a hýphen spoken like a glottal stop, not a minus, so there's no double minus world either. :The world is called as such because of how it appears, not how it reads. The dash appears like a minus sign, thus "negative one" or "minus one", leading to "Minus World". It's a fan term that Nintendo later made official in several instances, so yes, the official name is Minus World. However, there's nothing about World 15-1. The video first reveals World 36-1 the way we know how to access it, but then reveals all the "Minus worlds" in order. It starts out like this:

So I saw on this talk page a section called "and, the other worlds?". It led to the conclusion that there are 256^2 levels in SMB, which would lead to the same conclusion for TLL. However, there is something that would mean way more areas. The Glitched Worlds hacks of SMB & TLL. They have, in order, File(TLL only), World, Area, P-Up, Size, & Player(TLL only). Now, P-Up, Size, & Player(TLL only) aren't the topics for this. The topics for this are File(TLL only), World, & Area. "Area" isn't Level, as selecting 00 is 1-1, and 01 is 1-1 bonus. This means that, if you do the math & make the assumption that each level has 256 areas, SMB NES has 256 worlds, each with 256 levels, each with 256 areas, equaling 256 worlds(each with 65536 areas), equaling 16777216 areas! That's not all, though! :::I looked into it more, and it appears the only ones that fit the SMB1/TLL/2 area calculations are SMB1 (NES & FDS), SMB1's remakes, SMB:TLL, SMB:TLL's remakes, SMB2, SMB2's remakes, SML, & SML's remakes.
