| :It's not really officially vetted, so I wouldn't consider this solid evidence, but I guess you can add an asterisk at the end of the article that IGN claims Stanley to be the Mario Bros.'s cousin, in a similar vein to how Prima Guide claims Toadette to be Toad's sister. 18:13, January 1, 2025 (EST) | | :It's not really officially vetted, so I wouldn't consider this solid evidence, but I guess you can add an asterisk at the end of the article that IGN claims Stanley to be the Mario Bros.'s cousin, in a similar vein to how Prima Guide claims Toadette to be Toad's sister. 18:13, January 1, 2025 (EST) |

| :::Unlike Prima, IGN isn’t an official source from Nintendo though, is it? I don’t think this is worth any mention on the wiki as it’s just a gaming journalist projecting their own view online. 21:04, January 1, 2025 (EST)
| |
| ::::Probably just say they claimed this but there's no evidence outside of it. We should probably set the record for that in case this crops up again in the future. 01:12, January 2, 2025 (EST)
| |
| :::::Honestly, it sounds more like not much as "cousin" like "family member", but more like "a member of the same franchise" (kinda like saying "Mario and Link are Shigeru's "children"." as in "creations" not actual biological kids), but I don't wanna open another parenthesis like we did with Talk:Mama Mario. BUT... thinking about it, wasn't there a Nintendo magazine that once claimed that Wario was considered Mario's cousin? I'm pretty sure it was also written on his page at one point (I also looked online for this, but outside from unsourced Reddit posts, I didn't find anything, so I can see why it was potentially removed). -- 05:44, January 2, 2025 (EST)

| So, I found another website that said Stanley is Mario's cousin, though I don't know if it's official. You tell me: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1690724557/stanley-the-bugman-rare-mario-character. Weegie baby
| |
| :That's an Etsy listing of a fanmade piece of merchandise. That is very much not official. ;P 14:21, January 22, 2025 (EST)

| == Baby Luigi ==

| | |
| LinkTheLefty pointed out that in a manga Baby Luigi was Mario and Peach’s son. Can we add him? Here is the link they used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g0uXcTF3mA&t=281s. Weegie baby (talk) 13:17, January 24, 2025 (EST)
| |
| | |
| :It's worth a mention, but it was its own story (sort of like a parody in which cartoon characters play the roles of a fairy tale). 14:04, January 24, 2025 (EST)
| |
| | |
| ::But can we add it to the article or not? Weegie baby (talk) 14:26, January 24, 2025 (EST)
| |
| | |
| :::OH, right: Mario and Luigi aren't in the page. Maybe in a trivia section, so we can also include the Peach of this continuity? 14:29, January 24, 2025 (EST)
| |
| | |
| ::::I actually wanted to add a trivia section since when I found that IGN article stating Stanley is Mario’s cousin, but I didn’t think that was enough for a trivia section. But now, I think we could add one. Weegie baby (talk) 14:39, January 24, 2025 (EST)

| :::::I've said this before in your family proposal, but I think it's not a good idea to blindly trust that IGN article you found. It's not an article that reports on official information, but rather an opinion piece speculating which Trophies in Melee could be seeing an upgrade in Brawl (and is thus not very verifiable as a source); even then, the "cousin" may be meant in a more metaphorical sense anyway (both Mario and Stanley have been protagonists in arcade Donkey Kong games where they had to duke against the titular ape, so they're kinda analogous to each other regardless of family relations). Actually, I'm not the only one who refuted the article you blindly believed, am I? 14:12, January 25, 2025 (EST)

| I’ve found this link. Is it reliable? Here it is: https://www.facebook.com/yagodesignwrap/posts/bad-cousin-of-mad-mario-wario-wrapper-vollverklebtde-ihr-team-f%C3%BCr-folierung-und-/4829131913768347/ Weegie baby (talk) 13:29, January 25, 2025 (EST)
| |
| :No. It's just some guy's custom design I think. Technetium (talk) 13:32, January 25, 2025 (EST)
| |
| ::I think they were referring to the wording of the Facebook post ("Bad Cousin of Mad Mario. Wario!") rather than the design of the car. However, I'd also say no to this, since the Facebook user Yagodesign is not officially associated with Nintendo in any way we know of. This means that the custom design for the car in said post is unofficial, as are the words in the very same post. And who the heck is Mad Mario, anyway? I don't remember Mario ever being called that.<br>, may I advise you to stop looking for evidence at random Etsy products, random Facebook posts, or random articles; and instead look for evidence at official Nintendo websites, official Nintendo social media, official Nintendo manuals, and officially licensed guide books and magazines (see this for more info). 14:01, January 25, 2025 (EST)
