| NICED job, man! I don't know where to put these things, maybe we should put all this info in the character articles (Example: The Mario informaiton in the Mairo article under a new section). '''[[User:Paper Jorge|Paper Jorge! I give paper cuts so stand back!]]''' Also I specially love Wario and Waluigi in the game, not because they're good but because of what they do. Like Waluigi's crotch chop, or Wario attempting to commit suicide with a Bob-omb (but it doesn't work nand he only gets burned up.) | | NICED job, man! | This article should be a american name like most games on the wiki. The Mario strikers charged football name can be in the other languages template. We should make this page a redirect to the Mario Strikers Changed article in the future if we make an article for it. | == PAL / NTSC differences? ==
| |
|
| |
| I've noticed one difference while I was playing a PAL ISO of the game. During the loading screens, before a match, in the NTSC version, the characters' pictures are mugshots. When I played in a PAL ISO, it's only their heads. Can anyone confirm this? {{User:Mario/sig}} 20:16, 24 August 2014 (EDT)

| |
| I checked, both versions are different.

| == The new table is very difficult to read ==

|
| |
| This took a while and I appreciate the effort behind it, but I need to say, it's not doing it for me. Not only all the information is under visually cluttered, confusing array of rowspans, it's more difficult to edit due to all information contained in one section (also this isn't showing up in the table of contents).
| |
|
| |
| The older one[https://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=Mario_Strikers_Charged&diff=3929501&oldid=3927613] didn't have much issues to begin with. Why was it changed?
| |
|
| |
| Also a lot of other galleries/etc formatted into tables like in ''Mario Kart Wii'' and ''Double Dash'' articles have the same issue, but this is the first table I came across. {{User:Mario/sig}} 01:44, May 31, 2023 (EDT)

| :The bullet points were ''incredibly'' difficult to read slabs of text and weren't even in a consistent order between characters. This ensures the order remains locked, and is more economical for space. Also, the old one didn't mention Kritter at all, and like so many other tables I've found, the images were needlessly tiny to the point of lacking clarity. As for the table of contents, even now it's overly bloated. There's obviously no perfect solution, but this is still more economical/readable/aesthetically pleasing. Either way, I don't think you should just revert, I fixed several bad grammatical errors that had only persisted so long due to the unreadably poor formatting of the original. | ::I do not like the use of colspans to condense redundant information (such as headers), that's not what it's for. I use a fairly wide monitor and I have to glaze my eyes to the center of the page to locate it, awkwardly while trying to find it. The original isn't unreadable; it's a bit spartan for sure but I can instantly tell where the home entrance information is because it's right next to a bullet point. Center-formatted text isn't also good formatting for bios either, since that's mostly a decorative formatting rather than something good to write blurbs about (blurbs should be left formatted). Additionally, I feel we don't need two thumbnails of characters surrounding their name. Plus, it's more difficult to edit: just to fix a small error regarding Koopa, Hammer Bro, and Birdo's classification, I have to scroll all the way back up to hit the edit function. {{User:Ray Trace/sig}} 10:12, May 31, 2023 (EDT)
| |
| :::Btw are describing the opening winning and losing animations for the characters REALLY necessary? None of the Mario Tennis/Golf articles do this and I don't think we should describe Mario Party characters' winning animations. {{User:Ray Trace/sig}} 10:26, May 31, 2023 (EDT)
| |
| ::::I'm confused, what else ''would'' colspans be used for is such a case? Also, I had to strain my eyes to even find the labels for things with the old tables, since again, it wasn't consistently ordered and was formatted poorly. Either way, I agree either method would look better without the (often poorly described) animations listed. I just wish we could find official names for the Mega Strikes so they can be listed normally too. For the record, I was inspired by {{user|Nintendo101}}'s table improvements on ''Super Mario'' series pages, since I realized the "sports" spinoffs (including the kart games) don't get much love (and also this is more consistent with ''Battle League''{{'}}s page). I've been going through them systematically for a little while, since I had previously done so with ''Diddy Kong Racing'' and no one had any complaint with it there. | :::::Yeah, the old table was definitely a lot more readable in my opinion. If the biggest problem with the bullet points was that they weren't in a consistent order then they just should've been reorganized. I don't see how it was difficult to read before, they were all fairly short lines that had what it was describing right next to it. There's a number of problems here and this should probably be redesigned from the ground-up:<br>1. The table is designed incorrectly. Tables should be designed horizontally, not vertically. This is a problem with a lot of the tables on the wiki and it's something I've talked with Lakituthequick (who is well-versed in web design) about on multiple occasions.<br>2. Excessive use of images makes the table feel cluttered, one image per character is sufficient. Especially for the sidekicks, they [https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/297596959026446337/1113490703071322193/Screenshot_2023-05-31_at_11.33.20.png?width=458&height=627 don't look good at all] on smaller screens. (The recently redone Double Dash table has the same issue of using way too many images and being overwhelming to look at.)<br>3. The description of what each cell actually is has been moved too far away by being centered on the page. If you're reading the characters on the sides, your eyes constantly have to jump back to the middle of the page. The bullet lists were neater in this aspect.<br>4. Stemming from the first problem, focusing on a single character while editing is much more difficult because that information is now broken up and mixed with other characters.<br>5. As already pointed out the sections are no longer accessible from the table of contents, an issue made worse when you consider that the table probably takes up even more vertical space (and thus longer scrolling time) than it did before. A table of contents is as long as it needs to be, so this change just made navigation more difficult for the sake of it looking nicer.<br>I appreciate the effort and initiative to improve these pages, don't get me wrong, but there's a lot of problems here that need addressing. (I'd also agree that we probably don't need to describe character animations on game pages, that's more of the nitty-gritty stuff that doesn't impact gameplay so much and better suited for the character articles themselves.) --{{User:Waluigi Time/sig}} 12:03, May 31, 2023 (EDT)

| ::::::I have removed the lengthy animation descriptions and changed the description/uniform/emblem headers to be less centralized. Do you think it would be "too much" to upload the actual team emblems rather than just having descriptions for them? I find images are a lot quicker for eyes to register than words, which is why I add things like item images, while the label icons just add further clarity on where that character's section starts and looks nice. Could anchors and {{tem|edit}} solve the other issue? I like it when columns are properly aligned, which is difficult in separate templates. For things like player characters and bosses (when there is more than, say, four and not in a particular order in-game), I feel this grid-based tabling is better than tiny-image asymmetrical horizontal list tables (note how in Mario Kart Wii's previous revions, stat boosts were tucked away in a nearly-empty but still massive table below rather than be properly incorporated into the character list). Plus, this way, things like new and unlockable character don't have to rely on things like poorly-placed obscure asterisks to denote that.
