I don't know about Bulbapedia, but I know Zelda Wiki has a news feed from eight or so Zelda fan sites giving news and insight into Zelda on their front page in prominent display. The system works quite well, actually. My point being that there are some decent fan articles with insight and referencing them isn't necessarily a bad thing, given that we keep only good links on there. YouTube is home to millions of videos, but one popular genre is the Let's Play, where someone narrates through their playthough of a game. Naturally, as Mario is a popular series, Mario games are constantly being Let's Played. [https://www.youtube.com/user/GameGrumps GameGrumps], [https://www.youtube.com/user/chuggaaconroy Chuggaaconroy], [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmL7epUlNGo Rooster Teeth], and many more are some of the more famous examples of people who have played Mario games on their channel, and that's not even including the plethora of people who have included a Mario reference ''somewhere'' in their videos, like everyone who's done a [https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=minecraft+lucky+block Minecraft Lucky Block video] or people who consistently use Mario avatars like [https://www.youtube.com/user/VanossGaming Vanoss (as Luigi)] and [https://www.youtube.com/user/MiniLaddd Mini Ladd (as Mario)]. With that said, should they be included? I do think that at least Chuggaaconroy and other people who are predominantly Nintendo/Mario-oriented should be mentioned, but beyond that, do we go by video views? Subscriber count? The article already lists a few gamers, like [https://www.youtube.com/user/TheDiamondMinecart/ The Diamond Minecart (predominantly Minecraft)] and [https://www.youtube.com/user/rfm767 rfm767 (predominantly Plants vs. Zombies], so it seems a bit inconsistent to me. {{User:Time Turner/sig}}

::Maybe, but to be fair, many people feel uncomfortable with the more provocative fanart of something that's already more provocative and "edgy" than a typical Mario game - hence Mario's use of the word "creepy" - it's not "creepy" in the sense that it's (traditionally) scary, it's "creepy" in the sense that makes them feel uncomfortable - think like how perverts are often called creeps. I'll admit that I hadn't really thought about it when I initially found your query on Peach's talk page, but I do recall that people felt uncomfortable when someone had described [[Mrs. Shroomlock]]'s appearance in extremely excessive detail. ::Hewer is right. This page and most other lists of references in certain media are a special group of mainspace pages on this wiki. Whereas it's true that most articles here strive for minimal coverage of involvement from non-official actors (one example I can think of reception section on game articles), this special group of pages pretty much operates on their own rules, focusing more on notability than Nintendo's acknowledgement. Now, I think these pages are definitely useful on a resource about Mario, but we can argue how much of their breadth is excessive, and it's true that this page in particular is susceptible to excessive coverage, because virtually anyone can post something on the internet and gain some traction for their work. I don't understand why this section is as large as it is. We don't mention "List of references in popular fanart" or "List of references in blog posts" so why should funny user-generated memes get coverage? The section should be limited to ones acknowledged or referenced by Nintendo. Honestly, I don't like the current criteria of memes having to be "Confirmed" on Know Your Meme. People seem to want to restrict this section to just memes that have been officially acknowledged in some way, and this criteria doesn't mesh with it.
