That section should include "Class Clown", because on FOP wiki, the reference can be found. And that <s>f**king</s> Baby Luigi doesn't say it's a reference. I have no account there, I just read. <big>IT IS A D**N REFERENCE!</big>

::It's a reference because wikia site says so. Legit. I'm pretty sure something like this merde was taken from the Spongebob Squarepants wikia. Just because it's a human-eating plant doesn't make it a reference to Mario. These kinds of plant have been in pop culture ever since the existence of venus fly traps. Have you read the above discussions? 16:41, 30 September 2014 (EDT)

I've found a reference of it. First of all, the Owl and the Chick played a game, they used helmets to connect themselves to the game, when they collected items and jumped, the sounds were from the SNES games. After beating themselves up, they've got into the game. They reached a boss. The boss looked similar to a Chain Chomp. --83.156.220.80 03:29, 3 July 2018 (EDT)

A lot of those references don't really seem like outright references, just things that vaguely resemble other things at best (and I do mean vaguely). -- 16:43, July 14, 2019 (EDT)

The Star of Christmas
No, I'm not talking about the artifact. I'm saying that the Mario reference in the VeggieTales Star of Christmas episode might be an unintentional coincidence based on speculation and assumption. Sure, both Mario and "The Princess and the Plumber" in VeggieTales involve a princess and a plumber, but the storylines are completely different. Most Mario games see Mario and/or Luigi rescue Princess Peach from Bowser. The Princess and the Plumber's plot in VeggieTales, on the other hand, goes a little something like this...<br>
"On the night before Christmas, the princess' sink backs up and so of course she calls the plumber. Now unbeknownst to the plumber, the princesses' pipes are magic pipes. So, as he's working on them on Christmas Eve, he is visited by the 4 fairy peas of Christmas and the Sugar-Plumber fairy."
The ending is also completely different, too:<br>
"The plumber has defeated the evil Monkey King in a plunger duel, the Sugar-Plumber Fairy has turned the wicked building inspector into a newt, thereby declaring the castle inhabitable and reducing the need for flood insurance and for the first time, the princess realizes that it's the plumber that she's loved all along."
Not only that, but I watched the Behind the Scenes feature on the DVD and they didn't mention "The Princess and the Plumber" being an intentional reference to Mario in any capacity...unless I'm mis-remembering something.
All-in-all, just a coincidence and probably based on assumption, but I don't want to remove it just yet. What do you think? Is it an intentional reference or a pure coincidence? &ndash; Owencrazyboy9 (talk) 16:06, August 6, 2019 (EDT)
:It seems coincidental to me. The only similarities are the mere presence of a princess and a plumber, otherwise there's no actual references to the game. While there is mention of a monkey king which could be interpreted as a reference to Donkey Kong, it could also easily be a reference to the mouse king from the Nutcracker, which wouldn't surprise me at all given the mention of an obvious sugar plum fairy spoof in the same sentence. -- 17:31, August 6, 2019 (EDT)
I know that this has been deleted and finished a while ago, but there is conclusive proof that the Mario references were completely coincidental. Ma321 (talk) 22:59, December 16, 2022 (EST)
Missing Show
Why is The Amazing World of Gumball not there? Is there no link to it, or have you guys not seen it and saw a Mario reference? (Not to be rude or anything, just asking.) Killer (talk) 19:13, November 13, 2019 (EST)
Nooooo... wait. I see it. But these shows with 'The' in them should be put in the T's. Killer (talk) 19:15, November 13, 2019 (EST)
No, they should not. That's not how the world works. I've seen books at the library and movies and TV shows at Barnes and noble and they don't have that stuff with the word the being the first word of the media, but rather the next word. Also, how does one not get banned by having the name killer? No disrespect, just baffled. Lord Falafel (talk) 20:26, November 13, 2019 (EST)
BoJack Horseman-Mr. Peanut-Butter's Boos
I was told to put what I discover on the talk page and I have more to discuss later on. Anyways in the BoJack episode, Mr. Peanut-Butter's Boos, when Katrina confronts Peanut-Butter by telling him she not having any fun, Mr. Peanut-Butter starts making Donkey Kong noises from Mario Kart 64. I cannot be the only one who noticed this.-Tommypezmaster
:Or it's just a sound that just sounds like it (just watched the episode and it doesn't). The shot of Jessica Biel also looks nothing like the Luigi's Mansion boxart. == Noticed for Sound effects heard in animation/cartoons ==
As I have noticed this, Bowser's roar sound and Donkey Kong's gorilla grunting sound from Mario Kart 64/first three Mario Party games/Mario Tennis (N64)/Mario Golf 64 heard in many animation/cartoons was most likely both stock sound effects. Same happens with Mario warping into something sound and Boo's laugh/Bowser's laugh from Super Mario 64 which is also both stock sound effects.--98.255.152.166 01:40, November 4, 2020 (EST)
The Tom and Jerry Show: Kitten Grifters
I actually stumbled upon an actual reference this time. In Kitten Grifters, When Tom and Jerry go after a crimial in a construction site, They come to pillars w/ barrels on them. Video Game music plays in the background and they bump into barrels, which causes them to roll down the pillars. A DOnkey Kong Reference.-Tommypezmaster
Alpha Betas
For those who have not heard about it, it is a new animated show partially created by YouTuber Vanossgaming and three others. As of now only a pilot episode has been aired on Vanoss's YouTube channel, and it is awaiting to be picked up by another company. The episode itself had a quick spoof of the Donkey Kong arcade game in it. I'm bringing this up because I'm wondering, is this the sort of thing we would list in this page or any of these other "List of Mario references" pages? 21:01, March 14, 2021 (EDT)
:Probably would belong on List of Mario references on the Internet unless the show gets picked up and actually airs. -- 21:13, March 14, 2021 (EDT)
There have been loads of Mario references in cartoons like SpongeBob SquarePants and The Loud House.
There have been loads of Mario references in cartoons like SpongeBob SquarePants and The Loud House. For example, in a lot of cartoons nowadays, there are people who's overalls look like Mario's and their hats can look like Mario's too. == Harley Quinn ==
Alright, so I just noticed this. In Harley Quinn S1 E7, at about 19:19, Kite Man pauses a video game and the sound effect is near-identical to the one from Super Mario World. I don't know if this is evident enough, but I heard it and immediately noticed the parallels. I don't know if there's anything else, but I just wanted to point this out because it was pretty cool, not gonna lie. 129.2.180.184
Yo Gabba Gabba!
Yo Gabba Gabba! had some animated segments that were video game-themed and probably had a Mario reference in there somewhere.--74.64.68.192
:"Probably" means it shouldn't be listed here unless it actually is intentional. 13:42, November 24, 2022 (EST)
::Well, if you want to sift through them just to make sure, watch them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hiqk1G6TSuA the one with the teeth is very obviously a Dr. Mario reference, and the one with the pirate ship is very obviously a Donkey Kong refrence.--74.64.68.192
:::Are there any time stamps you can give me? 13:52, November 24, 2022 (EST)
::::At 0:10 is the first teeth one, and at 0:19 is the first pirate ship one. There are also ones that could be considered references to Luigi's Mansion or Mario Kart, but to me they're too different.--74.64.68.192
:::::I don't know Dr. Mario well enough to judge on that one, but the pirate ship one doesn't look much like Donkey Kong; there's not even an equivalent of Donkey Kong throwing barrels. 14:04, November 24, 2022 (EST)
::::::The germs are the Dr. Mario reference there, and just because there's no Kong equivalent doesn't mean it's not a reference, as there's also a Q-Bert reference with no enemies. There's also one at 13:28 that's closer to Mario Kart than the rest, and one even closer to Donkey Kong at 16:10.--74.64.68.192
:::::::Climbing ladders in an 8 bit sidescroller isn't something that would always instantly reference Donkey Kong, it would have to be a lot more than that for it to be properly intentional. Mario Kart is a stretch since there's dozens of other kart racing video games. 16:00, November 24, 2022 (EST)
::::::::Well, I can see your point there, but the teeth one is clearly a Dr. Mario reference. Even though it's absolutely not the same, the germs are clearly based off of the Viruses. They even do the same little dance!--74.64.68.192
That Spongebob one
That one scene where a character in SpongeBob goes down a pipe (?) and has a syringe aiming and shooting at germs, if that is on the page, THAT is not a Dr. Mario reference. Dr. Mario has pills going down a glass jar to remove germs. That SpongeBob scene is just a syringe shooting a substance at germs. If you want to remove it, then go ahead. If you want to keep it, please give clarification on why you want to keep it. PaperMarioGolf (talk) 18:37, February 10, 2024 (EST)
:What about the checkered layout of the area Sandy enters after traveling through the pipe, which was clearly inspired by Dr. Mario?
Possible reference in Milo Murphy's Law
So I recently looked into the Milo Murphy's Law Season 2 episode "Pace Makes Waste" (the one with the NASCAR guest stars), and I noticed in a shot like this one a couple trucks labeled "Koop's Turtle Haven", plastered alongside a little green turtle image. Given that the Mario games feature turtles named Koopa Troopas, I was wondering if these trucks were referencing them? 16:38, May 11, 2024 (EDT)
SpongeBob SquarePants
In the Atlantis SquarePantis section, should the image of Squidward inside a painting be replaced with a GIF of Lord Royal Highness throwing him into one to better illustrate the Super Mario 64 reference?
