== German-Japanese and German comics ==

Did you know that there were released a lot of Nintendo comics in Europe in Germany (and German-speaking regions like Austria) until 2000? I think these ones are also important, as far as I know they weren't avaiable outside of the mentioned regions. But let me introduce: 

There was the official magazine '''Club Nintendo''' (1989 - 2002), the German equivalent to [[Nintendo Power]]. From 1991 to 1998 it featured comics which were drawn by Japanese manga artists, but the stories and texts came from the German editors of the magazine. In 1999 and 2000 it featured pure German comics (''N&nbsp;Gang'' series) made by the same people who also made ''[[Bumm-Badabumm Im Urwald]]''. 

The most of these dozens of different comics include characters from Marioverse.

Well, while some of the comics are closely related to the games, some of them are also... very fancy and obscure. However, they are all drawn very nice, especially the characters in the German-Japanese comics do often look like the original artworks.

Then a publisher called ''Computec'' took over Club Nintendo and the complete editorial department was changed, but the "new" Club Nintendo started in 2001 was already aborted in 2002. They did also kick the comics.

Fortunately, the most of the comics are avaiable on web pages:

Also if you can't read German, just give it a try. In my opinion the Yoshi's Island special issue is the comic which is closest to the comics - not only the story, great character artwork and the backgrounds are exactly in the style from the game. Sadly, on the web page (which doesn't have to do with the Nintendo Power magazine in spite of its name) nearly all pages after page 21 are missing, but it's still very good.

Back in 1983, Marvel put out a videogame themed magazine named Blip.  The first issue featured a brief Mario/Donkey Kong comic, as seen here: http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2012/12/07/comic-book-legends-revealed-396/  I'm not sure if we should add this.
