I heard from videos that it is possible to go to the minus world on the virtual console. Why did you say that it wasn't? -Mario324

Because it is basically an emulation of the original. So all glitches work on the virtual consule. KartMaster (talk) 22:51, 4 September 2015 (EDT)

This should be removed. It is physically impossible for game glitches to damage the system or the game. The very maximum damage that can be achieved by a game glitch of any sort is a corrupted save file. This is because the game's programming does not control the lower level system hardware (which lies in the domain of firmware). :I reworded it to just say, "corrupt save files". 17:22, 15 February 2014 (EST)
"Hit the Axe and Keep It There" is not a glitch!
It actually makes sense for the ax not to disappear since Bowser is already defeated with fireballs and there is no need to untie the bridge by slashing it with the ax - that's why it stays there, as well as the bridge. I suggest removing this "glitch" from the list. Xeoxer (talk) 15:39, 23 January 2015 (EST)
:I suppose so, but the way the walls are structured makes it seem tricky to actually jump past the axe. But if the axe is never activated due to Mario's not touching it, then it's not a glitch. 16:08, 23 January 2015 (EST)
::Oh sorry, I assumed the axe never vanishes when Bowser was defeated with fireballs, but I recently replayed the game and it disappears unless you touch the far right, so it's a bug after all. Xeoxer (talk) 13:12, 29 January 2015 (EST)
Jumping backwards
The minus world is accessed by jumping and colliding into a wall backwards. The backward long jump, enough said. Is it just me, or have Mario games not mastered backwards jumping?
New possible glitch?
I discovered a new glitch in 1-1 involving tricks similar to wrong warp in 4-2. Backwards jumping into objects to push Mario to the very far right side of the screen, causing a very weird finish. Here's a link, you should consider watching this:

What is this?
This is a strange sprite I got from the Spriter's Resource. Is it a glitch?
13:44, 16 December 2016 (EST)
:It might be the in-between sprite for when Super Mario is shrinking into Small Mario. However, I'm not totally sure of that.
14:18, 16 December 2016 (EST)
::Sure seems like an in between sprite. 17:02, 16 December 2016 (EST)
Minor, not really helpful glitch (1-2 lost checkpoint)
Since I'm just a lurker, I guess I'll leave it up to members if they feel it's worth adding. It's a very simple, but not at all helpful glitch...since 1-2's score potential is too low for score runners.
If you pass the checkpoint in 1-2 and die to the piranhas at the pipe you can go down, you'll normally start around where you died. However, if you go down the pipe and wait for a TIME UP, you'll start at the beginning of the level...negating the checkpoint entirely.
This doesn't work in levels where it'd be more helpful, i.e. 5-1. My best guess is it only works in 1-2 because it's an underground world, and 4-2's pipe is too early to be able to verify this. 47.199.55.29 12:53, 10 March 2018 (EST)
I am pretty sure the Die and Complete Simultaneously glitch does not affect your lives
When I performed the glitch where you touched Bowser and the Axe and the same time, I was at my last life. When I did this, my lives did not go down.

New Glitch?
So when you're Fire Mario and the time runs out, you become Small Fire Mario dying. -BigDanielCo 12:26pm December 22nd 2018
Moonwalk, but it's a- um... MoonKICK?
I discovered this while playing through Super Mario Bros, and it's pretty simple. In 8-1, I ran and jumped off of the platform above the single red paratroopa and right by the two paratroopas jumping over the single-block pillars. After jumping off, I bounced on one of the koopas, but the position I did it made it so the koopa shell clipped into the ground, and afterwards I was able to kick it. It even went over the gaps. I haven't seen this anywhere else, but let me know. JacobH.5840
New glitch
I found a new glitch! In 6-2, when there is a Buzzy Beetle on some bricks in the air, stomp the Buzzy Beetle. Then, kick its shell at the pipes with Piranha Plants in them. The shell will "kill" the Piranha Plant in the second pipe, and the player will still receive points, but the Piranha Plant will still be there, but it will not move (apart from it opening and closing its mouth). If the player touches it, the player will not get hurt.

:That doesn't look like a screenshot of the original game; why are the resolution and coin counter different? 00:30, February 6, 2021 (EST)
Addition to Floating Buzzy Beetle
A similar glitch can be achieved without Hard Mode on World 1-3. This involves the Red Paratroopa over the gap between two trees somewhere in the stage. This doesn't need anything but the nearby Goomba may be a nuisance. To do this, just wait for the Paratroopa to reach about the same level as the tree platform the player is standing on and jump on its head, making it lose its wings. Remembering to stay directly above it, he/she should jump on the Paratroopa once more to make it go inside its shell and float. If you jump on it again, it will slide across the sky and can float through walls. Keep in mind that the player will definitely die (unless using a cheat code/fly hack) and he/she may not be able to see anything else. I wondered if I should add this to the corresponding section, where I might change the title to 'Floating Shells'. I would like to do this because it is more simple and easier to do. Do you think I should do it? -GlitchFest36, new user
:I think this might involve any shell next to a pit, as I remember it being useful to get over the flagpole. If you do it right, the shell will warp to the top of the screen and walk around up there. 11:56, April 12, 2021 (EDT)
Edit to the jumping in mid-air glitch
I recently discovered that it is possible to perform the mid-air jump glitch with a fire flower if you collect it while falling down. Should that be added? Also, it doesn't work with the stars or 1-ups because those don't have transition animations. --JacobH.5840 (talk) 01:08, April 14, 2021 (EDT)
