Editing Talk:List of Donkey Kong Country glitches

"Death Freeze" does not seem to require a checkpoint barrel. I managed to get it to work on the first level with both characters from the start of the level. Additionally, this can be done with only one Kong, rather than getting hit to lose one before picking up the barrel.

I noticed something in the Game Boy Advance version (USA). In Winky's Walkway walk under Winky's box. Kill the purple Kritter, because it may interfere. As Diddy Kong, jump to the next small wooden platform, the one before the platform that hosts the Star Barrel. As Diddy, roll to left and jump. You will fall under the level, but you won't die.
