So this article is mainly about the helmet in Super Paper Mario, and underneath the information for that game, it then talks about Super Mario Sunshine, which came out years before Super Paper Mario, so I feel the way this article is done now is not right. Shouldn't we either put Super Mario Sunshine's information first, or remove it entirely?

For nearly 15 years, we have considered a diving helmet from Super Mario Sunshine that allows Mario to breathe only for longer underwater, and a space helmet fashioned out of a fishbowl from Super Paper Mario that allows the heroes to breathe perfectly in Outer Space, similar enough to share the same page. Yeah, it doesn't take a rocket scientist (or an oceanographer) to understand why that doesn't make sense. Furthermore, despite Super Mario Sunshine having released nearly five years before Super Paper Mario, the latter game's helmet is covered first and is the primary focus of the article. With all this in mind, I'm proposing we give this article a long-overdue split.
The main hiccup with this proposal is the Super Mario Sunshine helmet currently does not have a known name—the Noki elder and his grandson simply call the item "this" when giving it to Mario. That said, the conjectural name "Helmet (Super Mario Sunshine)" wouldn't hurt for now, and there's a good chance a name is given in one of the game's guidebooks...even if that name is just "helmet". Also, while such an article may end up being very short, short does not equal bad, and the item has enough gameplay function to merit its own article.
Since the Super Paper Mario item shouldn't take priority—especially considering the Game & Watch game—this article will be moved to "Helmet (Super Paper Mario)" once the Super Mario Sunshine information is split off, and the name "Helmet" will be used for a disambiguation page.
EDIT: A name has been discovered for the Super Mario Sunshine item: it is referred to as "a special helmet" in the game's official Nintendo Player's Guide. Since I'm not sure if the adjective "special" should be included in the item's name or not, I've added an option for splitting the Super Mario Sunshine item to "Special helmet" instead. The Super Paper Mario item will be given the name "Helmet (item)" for this option, as it still doesn't need to take priority.

Split into Helmet (Super Mario Sunshine) and Helmet (Super Paper Mario)
#SolemnStormcloud Per proposal as well as the discussion above.
#Hewer This is a random and strangely long-lasting merge that feels like the exact kind of thing discouraged by the "Everything but the kitchen sink" section of the good writing guide. Per proposal.
#ViableBunnyBudd Per all.
#Camwoodstock Per all; these are two entirely different items that, while both significant, are radically different from one another in basically all but "being a helmet".
#ThePowerPlayer Per all.
#Pizza Master Per all.
#Mario No brainer.
Split into Special helmet and Helmet (item)
#SolemnStormcloud Secondary choice. Calling what is essentially a stylized diving helmet "special" is a little awkward, but it's an option.

The SMS Nintendo Player's Guide calls it "a special helmet". 19:37, August 17, 2024 (EDT)
:Great find! I don't think the adjective "special" is meant to be part of the item's "name", so I'm sticking to "Helmet (Super Mario Sunshine)". EDIT: <s>Never mind. It's kind of a silly name, but I'll take a unique name over an identifier. Should I just cancel this proposal now that a unique name for the Super Mario Sunshine item has been discovered?</s> EDIT 2: I'm still indecisive about that name, so I added an option for using "Special helmet" over "Helmet (Super Mario Sunshine)".
