Since the English Mario Portal uses two names for this enemy, which should we go by? "Ground Urchin" is used for the ''Super Mario Galaxy'' appearance, whereas "Hot Urchin" is used for the ''Super Mario Galaxy 2'' appearance. {{User:Archivist Toadette/sig}} 12:57, August 13, 2022 (EDT)

:::I'd personally go with Ground Urchin as the article title because these names were technically released simultaneously, so I don't think it really falls into the usual "recent" naming - it's a closer translation to the original name, and these Urchins aren't exactly "hot" as they can be easily burned up. The English ''Mario Portal'' refers to this enemy as "Ground Urchin" for the ''Super Mario Galaxy'' section and as "Hot Urchin" for the ''Super Mario Galaxy 2'' section. Which of the two names should we use, if at all?

#{{User|Archivist Toadette}} I think this name is the most straightforward, since it adequately defines what the enemy is. Also, it doesn't always appear in lava-themed areas; see [[Battle Belt Galaxy]] as an example.

#{{User|Doc von Schmeltwick}} The purple ones appear on the ground/negligibly shallow waters on rare occasions in the SMG games too (Freezeflame in 1, Slimy Spring in 2), and these are usually found in hot areas; even the Battle Belt ones were on a distinctly scorched-looking planet.

:I'll try to explain as you may need to zoom in: look at the strokes on the right of 陸 (land) and the upper-left of 熱 (hot). They're variations of each other. Also consider that no furigana is provided to show the proper reading, and it becomes entirely feasible that someone could've rushed through it and caused the odd discrepancy. Again, outside of the expected-at-this-point resized enemy weirdness, this is the ''only'' enemy whose English name differs between sections, as Portal has made the modern names uniform even in games that use older translations.
