:I implore you to read some official profiles we have on Galoomba. The Perfect Ban Mario Character Daijiten states that these enemies are relatives of Goomba (thus, not variants/derived subjects); furthermore, the Character Museum profile for Galoomba in Mario Party: Star Rush clearly states that Galoombas are NOT Goombas, meaning that they cannot be variants of Goombas at all. Moving over to Goombrat, the description for the Goombrat Statue in Super Mario Run states that "Nobody is quite sure of their exact relation to Goombas" (so if anything, calling them even "relatives" might be a stretch; they're definitely not variants of Goomba, that's for sure). All that remains is Octoomba, who you may quite notice doesn't look much like a Goomba compared to Galoombas and Goombrats; it's a Goomba-shaped space octopus more in common with Octoguy, Rocto and their leaders King Kaliente and Prince Pikante; so by logical deduction, these shouldn't be regarded as variants of Goombas either.<br>Also, "Derived subjects" was to be a counterpart to "Subject origin", which has been discontinued per a passed proposal, due to frequent misuse and general confusion (Subject origin was supposed to be the real-life inspiration for something, but fictional Mario critters gradually began taking that spot too); so, I moved the remaining subjects Beanie and Strollin' Stu to "Relatives" as well. 16:21, August 13, 2024 (EDT)

::What even is a variant then? Because I'm still not sure what criteria are being used. If Goombrats aren't a variant of Goombas, are Shymores one of Shy Guys? Sharpeas? Toothys? And why? Blinker (talk) 17:55, August 13, 2024 (EDT)

Now, this isn't contributing or anything, but do the admins have archived the removed pages? It's just that I wanted to see the SMB movie article for goombas. Weegie baby (talk) 08:48, November 11, 2024 (EST)
:You may see it here on the page's history. That's why I prefer merged pages be redirected rather than deleted outright. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:08, November 11, 2024 (EST)
