I saw the proposal for merging the Small Goomba with the normal Goomba and the first thing I thought was "Why isn't this Goomba merged." | I saw the proposal for merging the Small Goomba with the normal Goomba and the first thing I thought was "Why isn't this Goomba merged."

#UltraMario3000 Well they have differences, such as that this one is more round, and this kind of Goomba has some different kinds of abilities (one of them is being able to fly around in a bubble). | #UltraMario3000 Well they have differences, such as that this one is more round, and this kind of Goomba has some different kinds of abilities (one of them is being able to fly around in a bubble).

#Walkazo - Per all; per the arguments put forth in the [[MarioWiki:Proposals/ | #Walkazo - Per all; per the arguments put forth in the Proposal that originally split this page out of the main article. Different official names in at least one language + different looks + different behaviour = different species. Main ensures there's no navigation hassles stemming from the logical separation of the two species of Goombas.
#Ericss There are far more reasons to consider them a different species than to consider them regular Goombas: First, they don't look like regular Goombas. Second, they don't behave as regular Goombas. And third, they have a different Japanese name than regular Goombas. The only reason to say that they aren't a different Goomba species is that the translators at NOA didn't give them a different name, but that's a ridiculous argument to begin with, as a) these enemies and the game they appeared in were designed by the Japanese developers, not by NOA, and b) NOA's translations were inconsistent and had errors back then (ie: Goomba's Shoe was originally translated as Kuribu's Shoe, and later changed to reflect the more sensible name) and should be taken with a grain of salt, especially the original Japanese version contradicts them. | #Ericss There are far more reasons to consider them a different species than to consider them regular Goombas: First, they don't look like regular Goombas. Now that it's confirmed they're returning in Super Mario 3D World, people looking at the article may think it is solely about the ones appearing in Super Mario World, even though this article has information for both of the games. In simple words; we should move this to prevent confusion. | Now that it's confirmed they're returning in Super Mario 3D World, people looking at the article may think it is solely about the ones appearing in Super Mario World, even though this article has information for both of the games. Super Mario World is considered the first instance of this creature, since it is based on the appearance of the Goombas in that game. So by that logic, why isn't Paper Mario considered the first appearance of Paper goombas, Paper Koopa Troopas and the like? 9:41 PM 7/27/2019 (EST) | Super Mario World is considered the first instance of this creature, since it is based on the appearance of the Goombas in that game. :Galoombas aren't based on the SMW Goombas. They're the same enemy, just now with a unique name. The paper enemies, and other unique paper entities from Paper Jam like Paper Mario and Paper Bowser, are considered to be new to Paper Jam, as there's no actual proof that it's those exact characters from the original Paper Mario games, where the paper was just a stylistic choice and as far as we know, that is the Mario, the Bowser, etc. and not some paper version from an alternate dimension. -- 21:47, July 27, 2019 (EDT) | :Galoombas aren't based on the SMW Goombas. Are you kidding me? The proof is in the pudding! Miami to confirmed that Paper Mario has always been a seperste character from main Mario, and the fact that the Papet Mario game opens with a book should he proof enough that the games take place in a book! And the book appearance in Mario and Luigi Paper Jam! MarioLover54 (talk) 13:57, August 2, 2019 (EDT) | Are you kidding me?
