Yes, I see the above proposal from seven years ago. However, with the recent Tornado page and the currently needed citation on this name, should this be merged with Tornado? Unless there's a Prima name somewhere (calling Time Turner).

OR since this is named simply "tornado" in the instruction booklet, should this be moved to "Tornado (Super Mario Galaxy)" since this functions differently than the others? 19:03, 12 November 2017 (EST)

:This functions exactly the same as the ones in SM64 and NSMB, the ONLY difference being that they "trap" you until you spin. The effects after that are exactly the same. The SMB3 and SMS ones are more different, as are the DKCTF ones. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:47, 12 November 2017 (EST)
::Bumping this; yes, it needs merged. Firstly, because the name "tornado" for these comes from the instruction booklet, which is on the highest-tier source for names, while "galactic tornado" is unsourced. Also, the arguments in the opposition from the proposal above made absolutely no sense, randomly badmouthing Prima for no reason despite them having nothing to do with this, and specifying that they're "galactic," as if that has any bearing on anything found in those games as well as other games. They also function basically the same as the tornadoes in Super Mario 64 and New Super Mario Bros.. There is no real reason these should be split, period. :::afaik, only a proposal (or an admin decision) can overturn a proposal (not important enough for an admin decision, imo). 19:18, 27 December 2017 (EST)
::::But the situation regarding the bird known as "Cheep Cheep" was important enough to completely disregard rules, followed by creating a new rule to retroactively justify it? This situation seems more important than that. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:22, 27 December 2017 (EST)
:::::Hatopop was a different case; an anon was fighting for the name to change, despite one not being known at the time. Later, the dev name was located and a group of us, including most of the admins, on Discord agreed to the change. The rules weren't disregarded, it was discussed. And there was also a proposal surrounding the change of naming order. Difference here being that there is already a proposal in play, which Hatopop and the naming source order didn't have. 19:29, 27 December 2017 (EST)
:::::if you think that's wrong (don't really like the whataboutism deflection employed here), then two wrongs don't make a right. i still suggest you err on caution and write a proposal asking to merge it. if you still have issues with the whole hatopop here, don't make a red herring about it and discuss it somewhere else 19:30, 27 December 2017 (EST)
::::::My point was the rules were a bit....swept under the rug, in that case (discussing on a different site, without a proposal, while that proposal about naming order came immediately after, as I already said), and the above proposal's opposition was rather ridiculous. Anyways, either I'll make a proposal about the tornado situation, or someone else hopefully will if I don't. By the way, I believe I heard that the Super Mario Galaxy Tweesters have an alternate Japanese name, making them a different thing....also Tweester's Names in other languages section needs a bit of work. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:40, 27 December 2017 (EST)
This should be done. I'd make a proposal myself, but I'm currently rather busy. Should I still the "mergeto" template on the mainspace, or does that need to wait until after a proposal has been made? This is a conjecturally-named relic from the time generic tornadoes were listed in the same page as Tweesters. These act roughly the same as the tornadoes in Super Mario 64 and New Super Mario Bros., except for moving on a set path and having their helicopter jump boost be activated by spinning manually.
I get a lot more done this way when I have another proposal recently made to be more sure of the ending date with XD

#Mario jc Definitely should be moved.

#Owencrazyboy9 Per all.
#Waluigi Time Yeah, I don't really see what makes these so important that they need to be split from regular tornadoes. Per all.
#Bazooka Mario Usually, merging tornadoes isn't a good thing... unless you're a storm chaser.
#MarioManiac1981 Per proposal.
