I have shocking evidence that may prove that the the [[Mushroom World]] is infact the same as the Earth. Read the first sentence of [[Orbulon]]'s bio in ''[[WarioWare, Inc. Mega Party Game$]]''. The bio is official as it was copid from the game's character introduction. It also reveals that the character in the Mushroom World speak English (at least the citizens of Diamond City do).--{{User:Knife/sig}} 21:13, 14 February 2007 (EST)

:Unless "earth" is just a colloqial term used by people on the planet, or that the Mushroom World is an alternate version of Earth (and would still be a different planet) - just like the cartoons and movie. Orbulon kinda screwed up everything, especially since the planets themselves are so different (look at the number of moons for each). Actually the cartoon and movie are non cannon. That shows that the brothers are most likely not from brooklyn and the mushroom kingdom is on earth{{unsigned|Pal101}}

== My two cents ==

Hey guys... I hope I'm not being rude, but doesn't it seem like we are making lots of unfair assumptions?  Earth is referred to many times throughout the series, so to say that there are two different planets is just an assumption.  We're assuming that canon is false or we are bending it to meet our own preconceived notions about the Marioverse.

Now, for those who believe that Mario is Missing! is canon, the Mushroom Kingdom is obviously not part of the "real world," but there is nothing as far as I know implying interplanetary travel.  Therefore, it would make sense that there's an alternate dimention thing going on.

And the two moon theory?  Doesn't hold up.  The moon from Yoshi's Island was small enough that we wouldn't see it from our telescopes.

I agree. It really only looks like Earth because it has blue water and green land - which would be expected of any planet habitable by humans. There are no distinctly recognizable landmarks that pin it down as Earth. It also seems a little odd that the Underwhere and Overthere are on Earth. I've felt the same way before, but what it comes down to is that if you want to draw conclusions, you have to take everything, even WarioWare's "jacked-up-ness" that was mentioned above. ==Stumpers Causes More Trouble==
I've been noticing around the Wiki that people will make references to "real world counterparts" and other things like that, linking the phrase real world here.  There's one in the [[Cheese]] article for example, but there are others as well.  This is fine to me if the games mention cheese or Chez-Its (Bowser's Snack-'Ems article... or something like that) as being part of the Real World, but if they don't, can we do that?  What I'm really looking for is evidence that, according to the canon, Mario could potentially walk through a Warp Pipe to the real world, come over to my house, and hang out... or, more simply, that the world you and I are in is the same (down to the current events happening today) as the Real World of the Marioverse? :The trivia, which was removed by another user, should definately not be on this article.  For that matter, there should be no mention of non-Mario Super Smash Bros. locations on this page.  The just as "This World" has no relation to "Mushroom World", the games that take place on earth in other series have no relation to Mario's version of earth.  In short, we cannot assume that the F-Zero locations, or Earthbound, or Animal Crossing, or Pikmin locations will ever, during any time period, be on Mario's earth, which this article is about. Attempting another revival, but seeing [[:Category:Real World Animals]] has made me cringe again. The usage of "Real World" as a substitute for "real-life" has always irked me in this wiki. It's incorporating a term used ''exclusively'' to the cartoons (and the cartoon uses this term as a parallel to the [[Mushroom World]], Mushroom Kingdom not Mario's planet) and applying it to the entire wiki. Actually, now that I've said that, we have scrubbed all literal referrals to Mushroom World and using "Real World" as a literal term is the old "Mushroom World" in spirit, how both terms were taken so similarly. I feel like it's a leftover from the time when the wiki hilariously (in a depressing and embarrassing kind of way) tried incorporating all information into one chaos of a timeline. As for the term, it would be much easier if we just renamed "Real World" into a more generic and straight-to-the-point "real-life" and keep all actual instances of Real World (mainly in the cartoons), as I said above. {{User:Bazooka Mario/sig}} 23:00, 23 June 2015 (EDT)

== The Mushroom Planet ==

There used to be a page here about Mario's planet and how distinct it was from Mario's version of Earth based on conjecture from the cartoons, but then it came to light that [[Mushroom World]] was meant to refer to something else entirely. In addition to the minor references to Earth in the ''Wario'' and ''Paper Mario'' games (and I think the ''Donkey Kong'' series and other spinoffs I may be forgetting), I found something that may prove just what relation the Mushroom Kingdom was supposed to have to Earth (or "the real world"):

:While I agree that the Mushroom Kingdom is on Earth, I think there are better examples from the games themselves, rather than a western-only adventure book that has little relevance to the canon of the games themselves (much likes the cartoons, anime, films, comics, etc.). Heck, it's spin-off stuff like that that caused the confusion in the first place, while the mainline games never made any pretension to being in some alternate dimension or universe (or beneath the ground), and side games practically revel in adding parody elements of Earth (such as the Wario games).

:The canon from western-only media is akin to the canon produced for Sonic games that involves "Mobius", something that was never part of the games themselves and was pretty much straight up ignored when Sonic Adventure came along. Mario is similar. The games are developed in Japan by people who have probably never even seen the western cartoons, and the idea that the Mushroom Kingdom is either in another dimension or beneath the Earth or anything like that plays no relevance to the games themselves, and is about as accurate as calling Yoshi "T. Yoshisaur Muchakoopas". This wiki has far too many holdovers from the cartoon's version of Mario, which has never meshed with the video games from the very start, and, like with Sonic, got pretty much ignored when Mario 64 came along and gave Mario an Italian accent and corrected Peach's name.

If the Sonic and Zelda wikis can do this with the various manga, comics and animated series then we sure as hell can. Mario might play fast and lose with story in comparison to those games but in general the games themselves have a pretty consistent world. However, I argue that it's most certainly not; the first game in which it has a big role, Super Mario Odyssey, shows that it has wildly different geography. Plus, it's referred to not as "Earth", but as "the planet" (by Cappy). I propose we create a separate article titled "The Planet" for Mario's world. ::Those seem like super weak sources to me. File names are not necessarily representative of intent, and many contain holdovers from early development phases; it makes little sense to go back through and rename everything when a change is finalized. Also, headcanon, even from (individual) developers, is not canon.
