Trapped by Bowser
According to TV Tropes, Bowser held the Observatory captive at his generator or wherever, but I haven't found it yet.--Ladies-Man1 (talk) 00:50, 11 October 2014 (EDT)
:Before facing Bowser in his Galaxy Generator in Super Mario Galaxy 2, a large comet very similar to the Comet Observatory in its "flying form" (the form used to travel to the center of the universe in SMG1) can be seen trapped by like a tractor beam. It's not confirmed as the Comet Observatory though. MarioComix (talk) 22:56, 11 October 2014 (EDT)
Japanese name
Both Nintendo's website and the Japanese Wikipedia list the Japanese name of the Comet Observatory as "ほうき星の天文台". The current name in the foreignname box, "彗星観測所", comes from Google Translate I think because (1) if you enter "Comet Observatory" into Google Translate the Japanese outcome is exactly "彗星観測所 Suisei kansokujo" and (2) Bing searching "彗星観測所" gives no result that has something to do with Mario games and (3) "彗" is a rare kanji and I don't think Nintendo will use it in a video game, as the alternative spelling "ほうき星" is availavle.   23:01, 7 May 2016 (EDT)
:Nice find. You should replace the information as soon as possible. 23:25, 7 May 2016 (EDT)
::I'm not 100% sure that "彗星観測所" comes from Google Translate so I simply tagged it "citation needed", instead of removing it. By the way, that name has already been copied onto the Italian Super Mario Wiki -- lol. They also have a German (Tedesco) name we don't have.   01:32, 8 May 2016 (EDT)
Note: Nintendo does use the kanji 彗 in SMG2. 彗星 (すいせい)   04:56, 2 July 2016 (EDT)
