| I've noticed for certain enemies in the past that have had names changed have simply received updates on their article referencing the name or names they have previously been referred to as by official sources. This sometimes rings true even if the enemy received a visual re-design as well; the most applicable comparison in this case I think is Fire Piranha Plant, which was referred to as Venus Fire Trap until Super Mario 3D Land (where it received a re-design to the orange and brown color scheme). Is there any reason to suggest that the same is not true for Coin Coffers versus Moneybags? Not only does the Coin Coffer serve the same practical purpose as Moneybags, but also first appeared in 3D Land. To me this almost suggests that (unless there is an official source clarifying it is indeed a different species and not just a name change as with Fire Piranha Plant) it is simply a Moneybag with a different design. I think another comparable example of this being done in the past would be the "Bubba" from Super Mario 64 later being changed to Cheep-Chomp (again, a major visual design change but the Wiki denotes the species as being the same but with a name change) as well as the species originally referred to in 64 as being called "Bubs" before being visually changed in 64 DS to the Cheep-Cheep design that is now standard across Mario games. To this note I am curious as to what people would think about merging the Moneybag and Coin Coffer articles and denoting that up until Mario 3D Land the enemy was referred to as "Moneybag".

| :Because the Japanese name changed too. It's a Japanese-developed series, so in a grand majority of cases, that's telling. That being said, it was apparently intended to be Moneybag''s'' at the outset of SM3DL's development, but it is not the case in the finished product. | ::To add to that, its internal name, <tt>GamaguchiKun</tt> (Moneybags) in ''Super Mario 3D Land'', became <tt>Gamane</tt> (Coin Coffer) by ''Super Mario 3D World''. So Coin Coffer definitely evolved from Moneybags from a conceptual standpoint, which is similar to what happened with [[Magmaargh#Trivia|Magmaargh]], thus Moneybags is considered the parent species of Coin Coffer. Your idea would certainly be worth taking into consideration if Coin Coffer ever replaces Moneybags in a remake of ''Super Mario 64'' or ''New Super Mario Bros.'', but for now, current information suggests Coin Coffer simply started off as Moneybags in development before the decision to turn the redesign into its own thing.
