| The story section is going to be a listing of the roles and wishes of all the (Mario-unrelated) characters instead of a general overview. I think this should be managed different. What would you think about making a list/table of the guest characters with name, game, picture and a short description, including the respective wish, similar to the tables in the ''Smash Bros.'' and [[Assist Trophy]] articles? The roles of ''Mario'' beings (currently only Birdo and Piranha Plant), of course, deserve detailed descriptions. | :Not covering non-Mario characters at all is the way the Captain N article handled it. We could have a list of other characters in the game but not describe them further. | :I had considered the very thing (my speculatory headcanon is Ossan is P1, Mario is P2, but that's...not for here). In ''Captain Rainbow'', he's become washed-up and lost his talent for golf, while the main gag about him is that he stuffs his golf balls in the front of his pants making them look like... a ball-shaped drooping part of the male anatomy. (Japanese humor be that way sometimes). Anyway, the NES golf games are next on my list of sports game articles to improve, so we may have reason for that level of coverage soon. | This is a character that is treated as the golfer from [[Golf]]. Like the DK situation where both DK and Cranky are considered the OG DK, both Mario and Ossan could be considered the OG Golfer in Golf. I created a very rough draft on [[User:Pizza Master/sandbox/other sandbox ideas|my other sandbox]] of what the article would look like. Admittely, a lot would have to be added to the article like their roles in Golf and Captain Rainbow but this is just a rough first draft. Since Captain Rainbow treats the character as separate from [[Mario]] and he looks and acts quite different, I believe an article is warranted for this character.

Ossan from ''Captain Rainbow'' = Ossan from ''Golf'', and Ossan from ''Golf'' = Mario, but Ossan from ''Captain Rainbow'' =/= Mario. This is a little too far removed from Mario for me to be comfortable giving him a whole page - consider that Mario being the main character of ''Golf'' is the only reason we cover that game. I'd almost feel more comfortable giving Ossan from ''Captain Rainbow'' a mention in Mario's history, explain the weirdness surrounding him, and move on.

I might change the sandbox to say in the first appearance box (as P1 golfer) or something like that to clarify but my point still stands. I agree that Ossan from ''Captain Rainbow'' =/= Mario but neither does Cranky Kong from ''Donkey Kong Country'' = [[Donkey Kong]]. For the too far removed point, we have an article on [[Manhandla]], a ''The Legend of Zelda'' boss that has never appeared in a Mario game. The only reason that boss is covered on this wiki is because of this line, "A four-limbed, jumbo-sized Pakkun Flower. Speeds up with each limb lost. Possesses somewhat powerful offensive strength" from the Japanese manual of the [[Famicom]] ''The Legend of Zelda''. Ossan not only appears in what is technically a Mario game ([[Golf]]) but also a game with many small connections to the [[Super Mario (franchise)|Mario series]] ([[Captain Rainbow]]). {{@|PrincessPeachFan}} Additionally, I don't think Nintendo would consider Mario to be an obscure character which is what the characters who need help in ''Captain Rainbow'' are, so clearly it's a different character who is given the same name as Mario's first sketch as an homage rather than hinting at the character being a strange depiction of Mario, especially what with Mario having a cameo in the game on a painting alongside [[Link]]. | Currently, the only source for the character in Golf being Mario is Mario Mania, an American source. Do any Japanese sources corroborate this?
