Huh?
Dont Buzzy beetles and paratroopas appear in super mario 3d land? Robecuba
No. --<font color=purple><big>L</big></font color><font color=pink><big>151</big></font color> 11:28, 31 March 2013 (EDT)
“that more recent games even confirm that Buzzy Beetles are indeed a type of Koopa“
I did a quick Ctrl+f on the official bios:
NSMBW: “These blue-shelled beetles are tough enemies to crack”
SMM: "Koopas aren't the only shell game in town—you can also hop on a Buzzy Beetle to surf in style!”
SSB4: “Mario's fireballs have no effect on these guys, much to the envy of their Koopa buddies.”
Where is it confirmed that they’re koopas? Somethingone (talk) 06:45, November 15, 2021 (EST)
:Brawl trophy. Also several Japanese bios. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:37, November 15, 2021 (EST)
::Can you list some of these "japanese bios"? Somethingone (talk) 13:39, November 15, 2021 (EST)
:::I can't type Japanese on this keyboard. Regardless, they are consistently listed as "Kame-zoku" (Turtle tribe, ie Koopa). The "Koopa" things from the bios you were showing were clearly from unenviable people who think "Koopa" means "Troopa." ==Zelda reference==
talk
So, there's an enemy that originates from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past that would appear to be a reference to Buzzy Beetle. Check out this link - the relevant portion has a screenshot regarding "Terrorpins", sourced from page 141 of (first part of) the Shogakukan Guide. It got rearranged in that link somehow, but in the actual guide, it's accompanied with the screenshot of the Chain Chomp above and a fire bar below - overt Mario references, as it mentions. And indeed, the caption does in fact highlight this reference, but the translator must not have understood the reference to Mario enemies, because it was mistakenly taken to be the literal onomatopoeia. What it actually says is:「ノコノコでも、パタパタでもなくてパメット。」(That's neither a Nokonoko nor a Patapata, but a Pamet.) It other words, it states that it's not a Koopa Troopa or a Koopa Paratroopa, but stops short of outright calling it a Buzzy Beetle. Some kind of allusion was deliberate. Now, Japanese A Link to the Past was doing this thing where a few alternate names were being used for Mario creatures (e.g. Chain Chomp was called Kelvin - which didn't stick around - and fire bar was called Guru Guru Bar - which did), so that makes it hard to tell if these were literally supposed to be Zelda-ified Buzzy Beetles under a different name, or if they were variants, or some other type of relative. Also note, Zelda Spinies, which first appear in Link's Awakening, have similar "flippable" behavior. So that begs the question, should it have its own article like the other Mario elements in Zelda, or could this be safely covered in this article? :I always thought Turtles/Shell Spinner/Terrorpin was based on Buzzy from the name. Since they keep a distinct design well into later games, I think it should stay as a separate entity until further notice. ::Oh, something that may be of interest that I nearly forgot about: page 29 of the A Link to the Past/Four Swords Shogakukan guide shows that the Zelda「ケルビン」(Kelvin) name had been fully replaced with the Mario-recognizable「ワンワン」(Wanwan). I'm not sure why they never changed「ぐるぐるバー」(Guru Guru Bar) on page 31 - maybe only Chain Chomp had focus for better consistency with Four Swords - but considering that the name of「パメット」(Pamet) is unchanged on page 25, I'm inclined to agree with taking Terrorpin as separate from the original Buzzy Beetle. It's close enough to deem it a variant or relative, though. LinkTheLefty (talk) 15:33, July 22, 2023 (EDT)
Black Shell?
Am I crazy, or have Buzzy Beetles gone back to having a black shell in Wonder, like their sprites in the original overworld Super Mario Bros. levels? Landfish7 (talk) 15:56, December 13, 2023 (EST)
Booster Course Pass
Where do they appear in the Booster Course Pass? It says as of now their latest appearance was in Wave 6.

The Goombeetle
In super mario galaxy, there are these goombas called Goombeetles, like Buzzy Beetles, they have red eyes, similar helmets that protects them from getting stomped, so I'd say that it could be a combination between a Goomba and Buzzy Beetle( though the helmets gray instead of blue), what do you think? == Goombeetles are clearly the Goomba equivalent of Buzzy Beetles ==
Remember last time they were supposed to be hybrids, well now they are relatives because most of you don't see the resemblance, well if you compare a Buzzy Beetle and a Goombeetle, you'll see what I'm talkin' about. 86.162.66.23 13:58, July 19, 2024 (EDT)
:Resemblence alone does not always mean they're fully related to each other. As I said already, there's currently no official source making a connection between the two. 14:15, July 19, 2024 (EDT)
