At what point was it confirmed that this character is in fact named "Bear"? I always thought that was Bazaar. Vent (talk) 18:59, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

:According to Brothers Bear article, "his name was simply Bear according to the credits." 19:41, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

Are you sure that's supposed to be his name? He's probably just meant to be a generic stand in for all the Brothers Bear without having to make unique sprites. Vent (talk) 20:11, 17 March 2013 (EDT)
:No, I'm not sure because I never played the game. I still pretty much think that Bear is his name because he's the only bear in Donkey Kong Land III. 20:13, 17 March 2013 (EDT)
Well I have played the game and I recently checked the credits. It definitely says "Bear" but he's pretty obviously supposed to be Bazaar. In both the manual and the Nintendo Power coverage of DKL3, he's only ever referred to as "the Brothers Bear" as though he's meant to represent all the bears without ever actually having to use their sprites or their names. I tried to rewrite the page a bit to reflect the above, but since "Bear" has a definite (if stupid and generic) name and provides services different from any of the actual Brother Bears, he's still a different "entity" and thus (arguably) worthy of a separate page. Of course, someone can make a TPP to merge the page to Bazaar, Brothers Bear or w/e. --Glowsquid (talk) 13:34, 18 March 2013 (EDT)
Merge with Brothers Bear
I have quite a few reasons why I believe this page should be merged into the Brothers Bear page. First off, most sources of this game call these guys "the Brothers Bear", with the only place that gives them a different name is the credits, which I wouldn't consider the best source due to a few errors (For example, Knockas are erroneously referred to as Krushas in the credits). It is also worth noting that it is unlikely these guys are supposed to be different from the Brothers Bears. I think the only reason they're identical is due to technical difficulties of the Game Boy. Also, the Brothers Bears and the Bears have similar jobs between the games, with both having their own cabins, so don't you think this is enough for a merge? 15:41, November 27, 2024 (EDT)
: I'm pretty sure that most sources calling Bear "the Brothers Bear" is an error as well, not to mention this guy seems to be a stand-in for Bazaar. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 07:34, November 30, 2024 (EST)
::Seeing how the credits also shortens other characters names (e.g. Baron K. Roolenstein to K.Rool and Wrinkly Kong to Wrinkly), I wouldn't be surprised if "Bear" is just a shortening of the name "Brothers Bear" and nothing beside that. 17:26, December 6, 2024 (EDT)
