The Suction Ball is Birdo's Star Pitch in Mario Super Sluggers.  When executing it, Birdo will first throw the baseball normally, and then attempt to inhale the baseball back into her mouth. This will cause the baseball to temporarily move away from the batter, disrupting their swing timing.  Because of this, batters need to wait until the baseball comes back their way before swinging, as this Star Pitch can easily lead to strikes if the batters are too careless.
