In ''Mario Kart: Super Circuit'', three Shy Guy Tents are dotted as obstacles throughout [[GBA Sunset Wilds|Sunset Wilds]] near some [[Dash Panel]]s. They do not move on their own, and they affect racers only if they run into them. If a racer touches one, the tent breaks open and a [[Shy Guy]] with paint marks jumps onto the racer. These Shy Guys wear headdresses, though not in international versions. The Shy Guy then takes away several of the racer's [[coin]]s before hopping off. Shy Guy Tents respawn shortly after being hit.

Shy Guy Tents reappear in {{classic|GBA|Sunset Wilds}}' reappearance in ''Mario Kart 8 Deluxe'' in the ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass|Booster Course Pass]]'' with the same design as in ''Mario Kart Tour''. Shy Guys spectating the race are now present inside the tents.
