Sue convinces Toad to pretend to be in danger, though Toad briefly hears the Piranha Plants cheering below the ground. Believing Sue to be his friend, Toad gets into the nearby river. Mario finds Toad near the edge of a waterfall, but does not believe he is in danger until Piranha Sue elongates one of her vines and starts pulling Toad under the water. Mario quickly drops the Green Gecko Gem and magic wand to save Toad, and Sue grabs both for herself.

Toad soon realizes he was deceived by Sue when she proclaims herself the ruler of the world. Suddenly, [[Bowser|King Koopa]] grabs Sue by the neck. Sue attempts to convince King Koopa that she had retrieved the magical items for him, but she soon discovers that Mario and Toad had tricked her with a fake gem and wand. Piranha Sue is last seen being threatened by King Koopa to use the fake wand as a "petal bender" on her for her betrayal.
