'''Naval Buds''' are young [[Piranha Plant]] enemies that first appeared in ''[[Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island]]''. They grow out of [[Naval Piranha]], which has two of them. In battle, the Naval Buds move towards [[Yoshi (species)|Blue Yoshi]] and leap straight up to hit it; Yoshi cannot destroy them, though they do not pose much of a threat.

In ''[[Tetris Attack]]'', two Naval Buds are Naval Piranha's partners.

Naval Buds reappear in ''[[Yoshi's Woolly World]]'' and ''[[Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World]]''. Once again, they assist Naval Piranha; this time, however, they are a lot more aggressive.

In ''[[Yoshi's Crafted World]]'', Naval Buds assist [[Spike the Piranha]]. He sends out large amounts at the Yoshi that follow each other in lines. Additionally, he uses two to drop [[Spike Ball]]s at them, with their mouths opening like a [[Party Ball]]. Finally, he has them sprout out from the ground in pairs to temporarily decrease the size of the stage so he can attack the Yoshi himself easier.
