I added SMW:US as a shortcut (because Userspace), but the page is protected.  Can an admin add the shortcut to the page? - 12:17, 26 November 2017 (EST)

::One week does seem a bit long. I think 3 days might suffice for a waiting period for creating pages. 19:39, March 18, 2021 (EDT)

:::I do agree that a week is a bit long and vandalsim isn't as rampant as it once was (most of it is from drive-by IPs rather than creating spammy pages) and from my experience, 3 day blocks baps most vandals I've dealt with but I think this needs agreement from within us to enact change. 20:33, March 18, 2021 (EDT)

::::I'm quite surprised this doesn't include uploading images, I recall a few users getting blocked recently for signing up and immediately uploading spam images. 20:44, March 18, 2021 (EDT)
:::::Gives people long enough to realize they're supposed to be here for helping with information, not gaining publicity within the community. We've had a few users recently ask how to make their userpace immediately after joining (see talk:FAQ). I suppose a week is a bit too long right now with our current moderation team, but that'd be something Porplemontage handles. It's also not just a userpage prevention measure, it applies to all page creations. Bots and vandals will continue to try to make pages even after the autoconfirm day limit has passed, but won't be able to because they either a) haven't reached the edit limit or b) are blocked before they get the chance. I get people don't like waiting, but that's kind of the point here. 23:50, March 18, 2021 (EDT)

Question about user page content and sub-pages.
What if you have 1 or more sections in a user page that are really big? SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) 16:58, December 12, 2023 (CST)

:Sections can be as long as however you want. There's no restrictions on how you organise your userpage (as long as they don't interfere with the wiki's appearance); it's mainly the content itself that's the concern in the policy. 07:29, December 13, 2023 (EST)

::Ah, Ok. SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) 09:00, December 13, 2023 (CST)

A kinda-related-but-could-considered-no-related topic.
So I recently asked about what would a user need to do if their userpage had 1 or more sections that were really big, and said a userpage section could be as long "as however you want." But that got me thinking. What about those custom infoboxes I see on many userpages? Are they allowed, or not? SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) 11:52, December 19, 2023 (CST)

:You're welcome to use and reformat any of the mainspace infoboxes on your userpage. Often people like to take the source code of those templates and customise the colours/fields for themselves. As long as it doesn't somehow add a mainspace category to your userpage, you're fine.

::Ok. Thank you. I'll try to not "somehow add a mainspace category to my userpage". SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) 07:37, December 20, 2023 (CST)
