Just because the article says they appear in Yoshi's Cookie doesn't mean they actually do, I have yet to see anything suggesting they actually appear in that game. You have lists for notable members and subspecies listed TWICE(Once incomplete), and I thought that Whomps were related to Thwomps, not a subspecies.
