Maki acts as a substitute instructor in the series, teaching Yūji and [[Fukusuke]] when Master Tetsu is away from the dojo. She is very knowledgeable about the game's courses, even stating at one point that she made a detailed map of [[Splash Circuit]]'s layout herself.
