In the GBA version only, the level opens with a cinematic showing Mario moving between two wires and avoiding Wire Traps to collect a Present at the end.

In the first area, the player needs to drop onto a lift below. Once on the left side of the area, the player needs to press a yellow Color Switch and then hop onto the conveyor belt below. After crouching under a platform, the player needs to use a lift to reach a blue Color Switch they need to press. The player then needs to jump onto a lift and crouch under a blue block, then use a ladder to get back up to the upper area. After using a conveyor to move under a wall, the player needs to collect the Key and then jump onto the Direction Switch, and then throw the Key onto the conveyor and reunite with it on the other side. The player then needs to press the red Color Switch on the right and then drop down onto a lift. Once the player is close to the conveyor belt, they need to throw the Key onto it and continue moving on the lift, crouching under a block, and then press the yellow Color Switch again to collect the Key. The player then needs to press a Direction Switch that is under the yellow Color Switch, throw the Key onto the conveyor belt, and crouch to move with it. After collecting the Key on the other end of the conveyor, the player is able to reach the locked door.

In the second area, the player has to use a Sir Shovalot to reach a blue Color Switch that needs to be pressed. Using the same Sir Shovalot to reach a blue ladder, after climbing it the player will need to use another Sir Shovalot as a platform to reach a blue ladder above, which will lead to a yellow Color Switch that needs to be pressed. The player will then need to use the Sir Shovalot again to reach a yellow ladder on the right, which will lead to another Sir Shovalot the player needs to use to reach the next area. The Sir Shovalot will push the player onto a wire they need to grab and then use to reach another wire above with spikes above it. After moving across the upper wire to the right, the player has to drop down to a wire in the center while avoiding a Wire Trap, collecting a 1-Up Mushroom in the process. The player then has to drop onto a wire to the bottom-left while avoiding another Wire Trap to reach a red Color Switch. Grabbing the wire again, the player needs to swing and jump to the wire or platform on the right while avoiding more Wire Traps. Standing on the red platform below the Mini-Mario, the player can jump from the wire while avoiding the Wire Trap to reach it.

Standing on the red platform below the Mini-Mario, the player can jump from the wire while avoiding the Sparky to reach it.

In the remake, the second area has been slightly altered, with the colored ladders appearing to be shortened, the first blue Color Switch moved to the starting point, and the first Sir Shovalot in the area being blocked off by a red Color Block. An extra wire has been added below the first blue platform as well.
