The player will immediately activate the Mini-Mario upon starting the level. First, the player has to move to the left and activate the blue Color Switch when the Bob-omb above is on the red blocks and the Mini-Mario is behind the blue markings, then return to the blue blocks over the Bob-omb Blocks to pick up the Bob-omb. The player then has to toss the Bob-omb onto one of the side blocks, allowing it to blow up one of the Bob-omb Blocks within reach. Next, the player has to perform a Handstand Jump off of the top blue blocks to reach the above platform with the Bob-omb dispenser and a red Color Switch. After pressing the red Color Switch, the player has to climb down a ladder and fall into the open hole with the Mini-Mario, allowing them to unlock the door.

There is a Direction Switch on a high platform behind some Bob-omb Blocks, but it does not need to be used. In the remake, the platform with the Bob-omb generator and red Color Blocks has been moved slightly upward, and the red ladder has been slightly extended downward to account for this.
