The Mini-Mario can be activated at any point during these next steps. The player first has to pick up a Bob-omb and use it to destroy the Bob-omb Block next to the red platform. Once the block is destroyed, the player has to press a blue Color Switch and carry another Bob-omb to the Bob-omb Blocks on the above platform, using a Springboard to reach them. The player then has to do so again, this time bringing a Bob-omb further ahead to the Bob-omb Blocks above on the right, tossing the Bob-omb up from the blue platform. If the Mini-Mario is not on the blue platform already, the player needs to lead the toy onto it. With the Mini-Mario on the right side of the blue platform, the player needs to jump to the above platform and press the red Color Switch, causing the Mini-Mario to fall onto a red platform. Moving right, the player has to press a blue Color Switch to keep the Mini-Mario from jumping into spikes. The player then needs to use a Bob-omb to break the final set of Bob-omb Blocks, allowing them to reach the locked door.

In the remake, the spike above the topmost Bob-omb Blocks has been replaced with a higher wall. An additional red Color Block was added to the Mini-Mario's section for backtracking purposes.
